harveylh - Berber (Murabit) 1087-1147 AD defeats oscarius - Kingdom of Sicily 1200-1266 AD, 61-32.
Good game. Early Sicilian knight charges almost collapsed the Arab spearmen center before the Arab cavalry won the flank battles.

Giacofa93 (Syracusan 280-211 BC) defeats Jack-3kBattery (Seleucid 302-301 BC with Lysimachid 320-281 BC allies) 61-53
What a bloody struggle! The Syracusan occupied high ground on the southern side of a deep stream, while the Diadochi army offered battle on an open plain after crossing the stream further west. Finally the armies met in middle ground, with the river disordering both the fight and the manoeuvring of the respective commanders. After a long and messy brawl the decimated Sicilian hoplites gained the upper hand on a part of the pike phalanx, just enough to instill panic in the remaining enemy army and snatch victory.
It could have gone either way till the end. Thank you Jack for an exciting game and good luck for your next battles!

Division D
Giacofa93 (Frankish 751-887 AD) defeats LunarFoxx (Viking 900-1049 AD) 44-12
_____
In a large open area surrounded by patches of forest, the Franks rushed forward with all the infantry supported by a strong contingent of well-armed cavalry, defeating by sheer numbers the valiant resistance of a thousand mounted huscarls. The fearsome charge of the Viking infantry could have been decisive but came just a bit too late to save the day, and the nordic invasors are forced one more time to leave the civilized shores of Gallia.
Thanks to my opponent for a fun game and best of luck for the next!

Pool B Group 3
Captain Savage (Free Canton) defeats GraftMalt (Danish) 61:47
The Danish spears smashed up the Free Canton spearmen as the medium spears could not stand toe to toe with the heavy Danes (and I made some poor choices in the centre). The Danish Knights massed on the enemy right were dragged down by; a host of crossbow bolts, a swarm of spears, and good use of terrain. The outnumbered Free Canton knights were then able to charge in and finish the job. Victory but at a terrible price.
Captain Savage (Danish) defeats GraftMalt (Free Canton) 62:59
On the left flank the Danish spears stood on a hill for as long as possible whilst archers and crossbows shot overhead. Eventually I had to send them down, where they were swamped by the countless Free Canton spearmen. The right flank was a bit more open and the mounted crossbows and knights managed to find some open ground to charge. It was very desperate stuff and once again the knights, kept in reserve till the key moment, charged in to save the day. They smashed the enemy left and had finally got into the rear of the main Free Canton line as the battle came to an end. Those knightly charges made the difference in both games.
