When were you planning to release the version 2.3 with the minor fixes?

I got side-tracked a bit, I will try my best to upload it on this coming week.

Oh noooo I mean if you remember I posted about 3-4 weeks ago my first playthrough on General at turn 75, which I finished a few days later with a draw. I was close to finish Russia, very close, but failed, and didn t want to risk lose in the very end.
And then I started immediately my new campaign ( pictures and more details will come later again) on FM difficulty and finished in 3 weeks with a Minor Victory. This time I was able to defeat Russia but had real no chance for a major Sealion it happened nearly similar like Goose2's campaign). And yesterday I started my 3. try, and hope I ll be able to finish ( obviously again FM and Realistic + and dice chess and same load from Mediterraniean end with poland start I used in my previous campaign) with a Total Victory.
With a Total Victory before any new changes and patch. At least that was my hope I mean... don t underestimate me, I love changes and new patches just.... you know what I mean right? It s too charming to try new version always, but because I played nearly 20 turns I don t want to restart

This next update will be a rather small one, mainly cosmetic things like some new songs for more ambience, some improved unit icon graphics, and these are compatible with ver 2.2 so players can update to the new version in the middle of the scenario and still enjoy these changes.

There will be some other small scenario fixes which do require a restart though, but nothing really significant or groundbreaking so these may not justify a replay.

And yes, I think I know what you mean, and I do not really plan to make major changes in the forseeable future. I think this mod has reached its limits for the most. Any more major additions would only make it even more complex and prone to breaking. I think it has already become a bit more complex than it should be, especially for new players who have a difficulty to grasp all the details in their first playthrough.

But luckily now we have faos333 with us, who is making these hints and tips videos on a regular basis like a major film studio to help new and not-so-new players. So I think he deserves a huge thanks! And don't forget that today is a new premiere: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ol-COZVKrSs

Sure, it would be nice to add it some time in the future. It is on my list and I also had the idea that perhaps the Battle of Britain scenario should have a place as well.

On the other hand, all these would affect the campaign play as in this case the core units would be able to gain even more experience and kills/heroes which would make it basically compulsory to start the mod the earliest. When currently it can also be started with the main scenario without loosing too much which makes the mod more flexible to play. (Well, some extra prestige and exp, yes, but it is not that vital.)

Yes, but now I am thinking that I would not like to add many more things to the main scenario. Watching goose's playthrough it is evident that a new player has to learn a lot of things and changes and without our help he would not be so successful even though he is a veteran player of the vanilla game. Now it is also apparent that players in general do not really like to read readme files and documentations explaining all the changes and options. They just want to play upfront. That's why the videos made by faos333 are so important, but I am not sure if those can reach every new player, whatever we try to advertise them.

For example the BE mod can be downloaded from other sites as well like from the German DMP guys and from varius Russian and potentially other sites. These are sometimes complete with a localization made without my input, but do these sites also advertise the youtube videos? Would they understand English language at all?

Hm, every playthrough ( this is my third) gives me another surprise. This time I captured Iceland with Student and a brandenburger. I didn t expect the Alied would send nearly as a huge Armada+army as to Normandy Still, I think worth the effort to lose 2 units for tying down so much allied units, because it made me possible to win worthy turns for in the Battle of Atlantic.
Or was it really worth ?

Yes, i did this too in one of the older versions of BE. I actually brought in some reinforcements and managed to defend it, but it ate up a lot of resources that could have been used elsewhere. IMO its not worth it strategically, but its a fun way to do things differently. If Iceland also had a port, it would increase its usefulness and perhaps make this a viable strategy, but alas it only has an airport.

Yes, i did this too in one of the older versions of BE. I actually brought in some reinforcements and managed to defend it, but it ate up a lot of resources that could have been used elsewhere. IMO its not worth it strategically, but its a fun way to do things differently. In reality there was also a seaport but this would have set a precedent for which it would have been necessary for example to send British and Soviet troops to occupy Iran in 1941 )

I mean, I really, really do my best this time to earn the magical Total Victory in my 3. playthrough ( still FM difficulty realistic+ ofc ) but in early 1943 russian airforce is so strong that does not matter anymore if I cover my bombers with fighters, they attack with 2-3, so in the previous turn I the dreaded +3+3 Stuka, Ulrich Rudel. I really have no idea what is the counterplay against this, I mean even if I would cover him with 2 fighters, only 1 intercepts....

In a same turn ( turn 44) I only lost 1 U Boat so far, now I lost 3 even the enemy had no LOS about their position before.More than 10 destroyers found them... And my best hero FW 5 was reduced to strenght 2 and Erwin Rommel to str 2 as well.... Life is beautiful

Well since you play FM difficulty realistic+, it is rather difficult to go for Total victory, the Mod is a realistic reproduction of history, but history does not change so easily

Well since you play FM difficulty realistic+, it is rather difficult to go for Total victory, the Mod is a realistic reproduction of history, but history does not change so easily

- WW2 era songs added to the end of each scenario, the long Barbarossa scenario has different songs depending on the outcome (e.g. a sad song for loss), normalized the volume of the vanilla spoken briefings with the rest of the in-game sounds and music (for whatever reason the vanilla spoken briefings are too loud)
- Sinking each of the Allied convoy ship units at or near the convoy routes gives 100 prestige points to the Axis side and 100 penalty to the Allies, but patroling the Allied convoy routes now gives 25 prestige points (instead of 50)
- Cavalry moves slower on desert and dunes terrains (2 and 1 per turn, respectively)
- Some small problems fixed like the Italian 90mm mobile AA (it could not attack air units...), typos, etc.
- Hel Peninsula opposite Danzig/Gotenhafen has been improved
- "Known issues" section (troubleshooting) added to the in-game library


The only realtively significant gameplay change is that now sinking the Allied convoy units give some extra prestige to the Axis side at the beginning of the next turn so the player is encouraged to destroy these instead of just hiding on the convoy routes with his U-boats.

Woooow fantastic and awesome change about convoys. That will make me encourage to even sacrifice my whole German fleet ( except the 3 battlecruisers) from the second half of 1942 for getting a lot of prestige until they survive.

P:S Meanwhile I am not at turn 60 with my playthrough. Won Tunisia, Won North Africa, just captured Amman, so I ll be fine on the Middle East. Just have captured the 2. oilfield, Vologda and Gorky and Stalingrad too, Astrahan will fall in 4-5 turns. I am 100% sure I can defeat Russia, but I have no time left to try Sealion before Normandy. Do you think I have still a chance for Total Victory by defending successfully in Normandy and try a counterattack around turn 80-85 ? I am confident Minor Victory is certain, I lost nearly my whole fleet and subs, but I only lost ONE fighter , so I ll be probably able to get air superiority after the upgrades

For a total victory you have to capture the objective cities in Britain as well. Which means a successful Sealion. But doing it without a fleet and u-boats is very difficult I think, and requires some time as well.

Also from early '44 the Western Allies get very effective fighters, P-47, P-51, etc. which are all better than the early to mid '44 German fighters. Better German fighters only arrive from late '44 which may be a bit too late.
