We have now had just about a week of recruitment and I am not expecting to get many more sign-ups now, although there are always a few as the tournament approaches its starting date. Classical Antiquity has the maximum 60 players again, which is great, and I will post up the divisions for this later today. Early Middle Ages has not done so well though and we only have 40 players, a drop of one-third from Season 10. So there will only be 4 divisions instead of 6 this time, unless we get a sudden influx of new sign-ups. Both Late Antiquity and High Middle Ages are still recruiting and I am very confident that we will get 50 players in both, so that represents a loss of 1 division in both sections compared to Season 10. Biblical should reach the maximum of 36 again (just 3 places left) and the Themed Event will have 2 pools again after my very successful PM "onslaught" on Friday afternoon.

We are up to 93 players at the moment, compared to 118 last time. That is quite a big drop, although the tournament is still very big. If any established player wants a fifth section please put your name down in the extra recruitment thread you wish to play in. A few players have already taken advantage of this temporary largesse for this season. Why is there a drop? I am not absolutely sure, but it may have something to do with the Covid situation, where parts of the world are trying to return to some sort of normalcy now and people are starting to venture outside again. I know that some players always miss out this "summer season" of the three each year because they have children and holidays to consider. And, of course, there is always quite a high turnover of players from season to season and we have not been able to attract as many new players as we did last time. It is still not too late to invite someone to play although they will have to sign up quickly now.

Once a section has become full I still need to recruit some reserves for each one, because occasionally players do drop out at the beginning of the season, or they play so slowly that they have to be replaced at one of the two Time Control checks (after 3 weeks and then after 5 weeks). I have divided the vacancy slots according to the divisions so that reserves entering the tournament do so at their appropriate level of skill/experience . . .
