In PBEM, gaining prestige is very important. So I want to capture the hexes with the most prestige. But the game only says that prestige is given when you capture a hex, it does not say how much prestige is given for each hex. So here are my questions:
-- is prestige the same for all hexes?
-- is prestige more for supply hexes? I.e., the hexes that are hexagon shaped, do they provide more prestige if you capture them?
-- if I capture a hex, supposedly I get prestige for the "first capture" of that hex. But how much is the "first capture" prestige? Is it more than what you get by continually holding a hex?
PC2 is very uninformative about this, does anyone know the answers to my questions? Thanks.
PBEM prestige question -- does not show prestige for hexes

Re: PBEM prestige question -- does not show prestige for hexes
There's literally a number in the hex info that shows the prestige gain. If there is a zero, then the hex doesn't provide any prestige.

Re: PBEM prestige question -- does not show prestige for hexes
Yes, I see that number if it is there. But when we play PBEM, we usually do not see that. So my question is are you seeing that in a PBEM game, or when playing against the computer, or perhaps in the campaign scenarios?
Re: PBEM prestige question -- does not show prestige for hexes
I think it was from a PBEM random map. So what do you see instead of that indicator if you click on a city/support hex? Could you take a screenshot?
Re: PBEM prestige question -- does not show prestige for hexes
OK, here's a screenshot. Notice the value says 0. All towns in this Marasal scenario have 0 as their prestige. Is that the way it is supposed to be? I mean, aren't towns supposed to give you prestige points?

Re: PBEM prestige question -- does not show prestige for hexes
If It shows 0, then it gives you 0. Default scenarios don't award you with any prestige per capture/hold.
Re: PBEM prestige question -- does not show prestige for hexes
Hmm, OK I can accept what you say if that is the way the game is designed.
When I read the manual, however, it states that prestige is given upon holding certain hexes, and that "capture prestige" is given the first time certain hexes are taken.
The manual makes no distinction between default scenarios or random scenarios.
So can you tell me how you have come to know that "Default scenarios don't award you with any prestige per capture/hold."?
Is this from your experience of playing the game? Or are you one of the game designers?
But back to my original query-- how can I as a game player determine which hexes will grant me prestige, and how many points of prestige will be given by owning certain hexes? I mean, each player has a score -- seen in the upper right of the screen. So how does the game determine these scores? That is really the question. If hexes do not give prestige points, how does the game determine them? Or is that score really not about prestige points at all??

Re: PBEM prestige question -- does not show prestige for hexes
You determine the hex prestige granted by clicking on a hex and checking its stat. And that's basically what the manual says. Scenario designers can set whatever prestige they want to give.
The player score is awarded for holding victory hexes each day and also for destroying enemy units. I don't know the exact player score formula.

Re: PBEM prestige question -- does not show prestige for hexes
Okay, thank you, you are saying what the manual says; so I guess that is it. If the hex shows 0, then it grants no prestige.
Which means that holding hexes with 0 points gives no advantage? Thus the prestige only comes from killing and capturing enemy units.
We should be able to test this... perhaps my buddy and I will run some games where one of us captures a hex, we do not attack each other, and then we check the score the next turn. If the player who captured a hex gains prestige points, if his score increases by x points, that will tell us whether the hex provides points.
I'll post the results of any tests here.
