Re: Modern Conflicts (Version 1.5b RELEASED)
Just an idea I had but if you wanted to add Turkey to the nato side and balance it better you could add a Russian aligned Syria, with some Russian units for support. I feel like this would force the nato player to slow down the attack into the Black Sea and Crimea.
Re: Modern Conflicts (Version 1.5b RELEASED)
Hi Tactical22, yes, thats the idea. I really want to add events but first I need to finish the basic combat scripts for the AI.tactical22 wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 10:55 am Hi Akkula, this is an excellente mod!! Are you planning to introduce events and nice photos in the grand scenario like in the single campaing? By the way, the spanish army in the big scenario is a bit weird, only three tanks and no other units. Keep up the good work!!
About the Spanish army, it is WIP at the moment (actually not even WIP

Thanks a lot for your encouraging words.

Yes, that could work and it would expand the theater of operations. More combat, more fun

Thanks a lot for your suggestion

Re: Modern Conflicts (Version 1.5b RELEASED)
Thanks! It would require some suspension of disbelief given Syria’s present state. I was also thinking in my own play-through as Russia wishing for something akin to the main game conscript unit with 15 star points. Maybe some sort or provisional troops or militia could fill that gap?
Re: Modern Conflicts (Version 1.5b RELEASED)
Agreed, a pro-Russian Syria is a logical choice. And Turkey being the wild card also makes a lot of sense. (Inb4 the question of Armenia and Azerbaijan?)
Re: Modern Conflicts (Version 1.5b RELEASED)
(from the other topic)
By the way, currently minor NATO nations like Austria, Belgium, Poland, and the like does not seem to be able to embark air transports. I tried to embark some infantry at airfields but they embark button is gray. And uzbek wrote something similar in his AAR.
In the BE mod it is like that: in the MP version the Allies - Axis force ratio is like 2-3 to 1 (with the Axis having better quality units and more experience, at least in the beginning), while in the default SP version, in which the player controls the Axis, this ratio is like 4-5 to 1 so here the Allies are significantly stronger because they are controlled by the silly AI.
As written above, maybe Turkey could make the difference in the Modern Conflicts mod, and would be against the player in both SP versions and remain neutral in MP.
I would suggest adding railroad system with some trains and removing the German nation specific air transport and adding Germany to the generic "NATO" air transport program. Military equipment is still mainly transported by trains in Europe these days so it should be a must. That's still just the easiest and cheapest way.Akkula wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 9:48 pm About railways, I have a dilemma: if I add trains, I have to remove one air transport option. In the case of Russia is not a problem as the player already has a wide range of options (helis and planes), but for NATO that means to "sacrifice" one nation airlift option.
In my recent scenario works, NATO has air transports for USA, UK, Ukraine, Germany and NATO (SAC program, in the game applies to minor nations). If I go for railroads I will have to deny Germany or UK from having airlift.

I think there should be three different versions of this scenario: SP NATO, SP Russian and MP. In the MP version the two sides should be more or less balanced, but in the two SP versions the AI controlled enemy should be made stronger. It is always harder to play aginst a human opponent than against the silly AI of PzC so the AI needs some boost.Akkula wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 9:48 pmAlso, pretty interesting how different is the scenario time lapse playing as Russian. In this case it seems that 60 turns is a reasonable number. This leads me to think that I have to add more Russian defenses (that is not necessary translated as more units) to ensure more fun for the NATO player. But anyway, great feedback, that confirms that 50 or 60 turns is the way to go

One thing that kind of came to mind now was some sort of "Grand Ukraine" sort of mini-campaign, sort of a smaller and more localized version of the Grand Europe ones, featuring Ukraine's government going up against the Novorossiyan Republics and (Likely) the Federal Troops in Crimea.

Эрдоган убеждает Кремль преподать Израилю "урок силы"The largest defense contract in the history of relations was signed by Israel and Greece
April 18, 2021
The Israeli and Greek Defense ministries signed a $ 1.65 billion contract to establish and operate a flight training center for Greek Air Force pilots over 22 years, the largest in the history of bilateral relations. This was reported on Sunday by the press service of the Israeli Defense Ministry.
"The Israeli and Greek Defense ministries have signed a contract worth 5.5 billion shekels [$1.65 billion] for the establishment and operation of an international flight training center for Greek Air Force pilots by the Israeli company Elbit Systems ["Elbit Systems"] for 22 years," the statement said. This is "the largest defense contract between the State of Israel and Greece to date", within its framework "an international flight training center will be created on the model of the Israeli Air Force Flight Academy [in Greece], equipped with ten Italian-made M-346 training aircraft", as well as the modernization of T-6 aircraft of the Greek Air Force, the press service added. Elbit Systems "will also provide training, simulators and logistical support," the Israeli Defense Ministry said.
Israeli Defense Minister Beni Gantz said, commenting on the conclusion of the deal, that it " will strengthen the partnership and cooperation between the two countries at the defense, economic and political levels." "I am sure that it will also serve to strengthen the economies of Israel and Greece," added the head of the Defense Ministry, whose statements are quoted by the press service.

P.s.Speaking in Ankara on May 17, the Turkish leader reacted sharply to the decision of the Austrian authorities to raise Israeli flags over some federal buildings in Vienna as a gesture of solidarity with him. "I curse the Austrian government for displaying the Israeli flag on the Chancellor's office building. To raise the flag of a terrorist state on your state building is to identify yourself with terror. Apparently, Austria is trying to make Muslims pay for the genocide of Jews committed by it, " Erdogan said.
Just hours before the outbreak of armed conflict between Israelis and Palestinians, the Turkish president called Israel a "brutal terrorist state."

Re: Modern Conflicts (Version 1.5b RELEASED)
I am totally against the "conscript" unit for the Russians (or Soviets in the original PzC). I find that concept pretty unhistorical and propagandist to denigrate the Soviet military on WW2.Shoughie wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 9:54 pm Thanks! So I don't think I will do that for MdC

Armenia and Azerbaijan will come eventually. But first I want to finish the balance and scripting of the main European theater.
I cannot promise when though.
I agree.McGuba wrote: ↑Wed May 19, 2021 10:39 am I would suggest adding railroad system with some trains and removing the German nation specific air transport and adding Germany to the generic "NATO" air transport program. That is because the released version doesn't not have any transport assigned to the minor nations. I added a new C17A unit (SAC program) in the last few days, so in the next release all minor nations should be able to use the heavy airlift.
Yeah, that could work. My main aim was to try to make a balanced "multipurpose" scenario that could be used as SP and MP.
The two SP versions only change who is the attacker, but leaving the option to the player to play (as example) as Russian while NATO has the first turn. But we will see, I will try to work hard on it before moving no the completely different versions (which is a nightmare in terms of update them of course

I really encourage to anyone wants to contribute contact me. I remember some made a huge Scandinavian scenario long time ago.... I think the mod has a lot of new units that could be added to that scenario.
Also somebody already made the map for a future grand scenario Greece vs Turkey

My dear friend We have a very democratic society here almost like in the ancient Roman world neither the NKVD nor the Gestapo Prison in Guantanamo ) This is just my personal request, I have stated my motivation without pressure only to arguments and facts )
The Taliban movement in reality managed to negotiate with the United States on an equal footing, and then a NATO member like Turkey is the second army in the world according to NATO countries and 10 in the world ranking of armies and suddenly overboard)))

Hello Akkula,
It’s really great what you have achieved.
Your icons are splendid and your scenarios very well designed. A real pleasure.
I noticed two omissions:
Nation 54 flag and the Apache AH1 helicopter has no sounds (UK_WAH-64_Mk1)
It was not registered in the Efx file.
Kindly
Yves

So, would like to offer my services once more with two aesthetic suggestions.
First, inspired by Modern Day mod for Hearts of Iron 2 and Darkest Hour, a more modern:ish flag style:

Second is to use the flag in the unit graphics to showcase each country's military regalia:

We already have flags, but I love the idea of having insignias on airplanes and navy flags on ships for sure! It can be confusing at first since, say, Russian Navy St.Andrew's Cross have nothing to do with national colors, buuuut I 200% love more immersion =)
