Moscow and Kiln
just completed Moscow. got all goodies but my Army took major casualties. need to replay. questions. once you get to Moscow, the Russian Air Force shows up in force. because of the bad weather early in the battle, my AF had watch tank battles but I needed Fighters to protect my artillery and infantry trying to capture the Kremlin. how much air do you use in the battle? do you take extra AA instead. once i got to Moscow, the Russians counter attacked along the southern route and from the middle. i had to send units back thereby delaying my Moscow progress. doesn't seem like I have enough units to do both? your thoughts appreciated. after Moscow appears to be a defensive battle. does the Russian Air Force show up in force once again? any special units recommended to protect your ass. thanks for your input. trying desperately to finish 41 on a high note. this is the furthest i've gotten.
Re: Moscow and Kiln
How much air I used:
I had one overstrength fighter (the ace plane that fights twice), and one overstrength 88. It was barely enough to protect my forces, and i still got bombed a few times.
Russian Air Force going forwards:
We haven't seen 1942 any more than you have, but historically I'd expect the salad days of 1941 and bombing helpless tanks are over and done. We should see mounting allied air power for the remainder of the war.
Moscow Counterattack
If I'm remembering right, Moscow's success results only require you to hold 5 at the end, yeah? So don't protect against their counterattacks, let them take the victory hexes you leave behind. Migrate your whole army into Moscow and let them take whatever else they want. You have supply through top of the map even if they take your starting zones.
Special Units
I had a bridge unit in Moscow that I really was grateful I brought along. Easy swapping between north and center lines is clutch.

Re: Moscow and Kiln
Klin: have a few infantry and artillery to defend your main evacuation point, 1 tank to chase routed enemies. No AA or fighter needed there as enemy airfields are too far to reach you. Deploy the rest of your tanks along with one 88 flak near the defenders and fight your way to the evacuation point, leave those aux units as meat shields. I took 2 fighter and 1 tactical bomber iirc, should be enough to cover your retreat and clear the way, just be careful to capture that enemy dirt airfield in the middle bottom, or you won't be able to reach the main airfield in your base once the enemy took all the two east airfield. On lower difficulty you can even launch a counter-attack to clear the map once the convoy is safe, enemy main cluster will just dig in around Klin, not going for you.

Re: Moscow and Kiln
i only played at easy difficult this dlc
but for moscow i think the best is to leave your Air units in the reserve and use some AA (especially with the AA Veteran Trait), The Problem on this map is, that the weather changes so fast, so that you can only send your air units for cover and cant attack the enemy air units trough the weather change (dont know if this is a bug, but you cant attack the enemy air units with your AA)
maybe its a good idea to change some of your tanks to the German Flametank or the italian one

Both snowy and rainy weather reduces ground to air accurancy to 0%, you will get an icon telling you this in such weather, and thus no AA allowed.Wolfenguard wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 2:27 am i only played at easy difficult this dlc
