Questions About Display For Province

Post by canuckgamer »

In to our second PBEM game and still lots of questions. When I click on the Province display and hover over the info display I'm not always sure what the info means.

For example, when it says growth in 23 turns for the population, where can I find how much growth? Using the main province of Macedonia I see a population of 8. It shows the number 34 for Food in silver colour and the population of 8 in green.

When hovering over the selection of items I can build, some of them indicate the benefit such as +5 for food. What about if there is a -1 for infrastructure for that item? What does that mean?

I used to play the Strategic Command series by PBEM but am currently playing War Plan by PBEM but this is my first attempt at this type of game and am finding it a steep learning curve. It is also a new experience for my two friends who are Rome and Ptolemaios. Sort of the blind leading the blind.

Thanks in advance for any help.

It's difficult to know exactly where the new population will appear for the province, as a province mutualize partially food. You can click on each region and see the number of turns, but if they are in a province, this is only an estimate. Plus if you have troops around, they will eat some of this food.
What is in grey is the food stored locally. What is in green is the surplus food produced by the region.

A building can lower the infrastructure production of the region in addition to having a cost in infrastructure to maintain. The first will be shown as a red negative number in the right panel. The upkeep cost is much more usual though and is shown at the top right, in pinkish.

To add extra bit to the answer above:

Initial population is the regional pop at the start of the campaign. Food threshold represents how much food you need to grow to aquire extra pop. Health reduces that value by % and has other benefits like chance of getting extra free pop in 75+ loyalty regions and reducing disease chance, which increased by negative food (the only drawback of having negative food, so take some of the pop off when you need that extra Production Points to finish the building turn or two earlier).

Usually I use ENTER key to scroll between nearby regions with my cursor over growth to see how big net food production for that specific region after province reduction. usually you want to have enough to provide pop growth in 10-12 turns or less after the initial 8-9 pops.
