As you can see there are a lot of updates in almost every aspect of the mod: units, balance, graphical improvements.... but yes, the biggest one is the big scenario Europe 2021 :P
I already mentioned that is WIP and this one is a test version, but these are the main topics to keep in mind:
- Units deployment is not final. Balance is probably messed up.
- Naval combat is definitely WIP (carriers units mainly). Lots of scripts need to be made. Do not expect a very smart AI for now 8)
- LOT of new units will arrive in future releases.
- Victory conditions are pretty simple for now, capture 50 VHs.
- No "special" events "a la" Soviet Storm or Battlefield Europe for now
- Purchased units can only be deployed on VH cities

For sure I missing more stuff but those are the most important.
Feedback, suggestions and critics are most welcome. Do not hesitate to ask anything, even the obvious, this scenario is at very early stages, so everything counts :D

How is it supposed to be played in single player? From Western or Easter perspective? Or perhaps it is balanced for both?

Is it also playable in multi?

I hope to see the final(?) version soon! :)
(The BE mod is still in development after like 5-6 years... so you have been warned... 8))

Hi McGuba!.
The scenario is designed to be played by both sides, single and multi. It is perfectly compatible.
Also there are 2 versions: you can pick who the attacker is: Russia or NATO 8)
And yes, I expect a lot of time of develpment ahead :o , I felt it also with the grand scenario in Soviet Storm and of course your masterpiece Battlefield.

OK so now I am checking it, it is a really nice map and there are really nice and detailed new unit icons. :)



First thoughts:

The city of Timisoara is Hungarian but it should be Romanian.


Perhaps railroad network should be added to help with faster unit transfers?


What is the unit scale?
According to Wikipedia currently Austria has 56 Leopard 2A4 tanks and Hungary has 34 T-72 and 12 Leopard 2A4 tanks. And yet in the map Austria has 1 tank unit and Hungary has 3. Maybe Hungary should have only one tank unit as well?


Hungarian MG heavy infantry is missing bigunit picture. Here is a possible candidate unless you have a better one:

Is it intentional that ground units cannot embark naval transports? How is it possible to move the British units to continental Europe?


Maybe the small air unit class icons should be changed to a more modern variant to replace the WW2 era ones?

So I played the very interesting Caucasus 2008 scenario with Georgia. I managed to capture all victory objectives in turn 8 (of 24) in the disputed region but although the description says "Russia would not allow this" I did not meet a single Russian unit in the process. I viewed the map after I won and I saw a lot of enemy tanks in Abkhazia in the west but only two Russian infantry units in the north. Is it supposed to be like this?

Good question. A question I did to myself during the scenario creation.
I thought heavy air transport would be more practical, I think that in real life most of NATO and Russian forces would move their assets via air transports. But fair enough, I could try to make some modern trains and add some railroads.
Do you think we do need more airfields maybe?.

Thanks :lol: I really want to deliver quality icons. Although this is a strategy games, nice graphics always help to improve the immersion.
More reworks will come in the next update.

Well, it was hard to define a unit scale. I tried to find a balance between real life ratios and gameplayability.
There is no actual "unit scale" per se, but ratios between nations. If would go just with real life numbers (for both tanks and infantry), the Russian player would be in trouble. So I did some tweaks here and there: reserve tanks in the far east, some "extra" units in certain parts of the map, etc. But I found the Russians have some toys (in the mod and in real life) that can compensate their numbers: their mighty air defense and ballistic artillery; so I add some of them to hit the Allies from afar avoiding direct combat.
But, in the end, I could try to adjust the units for each side for sure, like the case you are pointing with Austria and Hungary (I think I did on purpose to help the Serbians :P )

Must be a miss from my side :? . Naval transports will be available.
In the meanwhile you could try to use heavy airlift to move the British to the continent. :)

You read my mind. These graphical improvements will come in the next update. I expect to work on many areas of the UI from now on.

It is a challenge to balance that battlefield in the Balkans. On my first playthrough (just a few 12 turns) I manage to hold the line while some Il-76 from Russia were sending some help :twisted:
I expect to add "fortified position" units (new stuff) and some mines to extend the life of the mighty Serbian forces.

I should pay a visit to this one. I remember to have a "acceptable" AI behaviour during my tests back in the day.

Eye-wateringly beautiful Akkula. I've just started nibbling on the edges of the Big Scenario but it already looks gorgeous, and I eagerly await the new updates.

Also, there are a bunch of new possibilities. At the risk of bringing up a rather tender subject, one of the first things that came to mind was that a number of the Balkan units could be used to make (admittedly very crude and probably imprecise) scenarios about the Yugoslav Wars; Sarajevo, Kosov, and so on. Likely playable from any side.

In any case, you are a wonder worker.
