Update Issues - multiplayer access

Hi tech team,

can you help please?
New to Medieval.
Have tried to access multiplayer and get a message saying I need an update.

Have run updates and get a message saying there is one waiting.
Cannot get it to download though - tried several times now.
Keep getting the following message:
"Unable to download file. An error occurred while trying to open an FTP file".

Any ideas what the issue might be please?

As Dutty says.

The issue you have with the "automatic" update may be due to firewall or anti-virus settings or folder permissions on your system.

If the updater downloaded from the Slitherine website does not work for you, please email support@slitherine.co.uk

Not at all, we welcome players helping each other. On another occasion it might have saved some time before anyone "official" responded to the topic.

And I am not official "tech support" myself either, merely the game designer. The vagaries of the interactions between the game and other software on individual systems are something I am gradually getting a feel for, but are not really my sphere of expertise.

I wonder if these update problems are something to do with Windows 10?

My previous PC was used Windows 7. It served me faithfully for nearly 10 years, by December last year it was taking about 20 minutes to start up, and the graphics card often crashed while playing FoG2, so I finally decided to get a new PC. However, I never once had a problem auto updating any Slitherine game.

My new PC is Windows 10, and high spec, but I have not been able to auto update any Slitherine game on it. Both my PCs have the exact same Internet Security program (Bullguard). I now have to get the updates from my Slitherine Home page on the website, as Dutty described above.
