Norman/Anglo-Norman banners

Post by julianbarker »

Don't get me wrong. I fully understand why armies have the two and three lion arms attributed to England and Normandy on the banners in scenarios like Tichebray, but it is a real headache to play Anglo-Normans v Normans, especially once the disorder and casualties reduce the banners to a single lion. I have given up playing these armies against one another more than once due to confusion over which side's units are which. The two heraldic devices were not established until at least Henry II. There is also evidence that up until Angevin times golden lions on a blue field were used either alongside, or instead of red for Normandy. Can we please have distinct armies for the various Anglo-Norman/Norman conflicts?

You can also switch between historical and easily distinguished banners on the Advanced section of the Options screen.
