Hello:
a new player over here. I'm beginnig to learn the game, and I have several questions. Before posting all I prefer to do some investigations on my own, and re-read game manual in search for answers.
However I didn't find any clue about why I can't move an army to an adjacent region, the following message appears when overing the mouse on the region where I want to move my army:
"Can't move in this region: Terrain is prohibited"
I'm playing as Saba in Arabia, and the terrain type is: Scorched Desert.
I can't find the reason why the movement is forbidden.
Thanks in advance.
Great game, I loved so much!!
Question on army movement

Re: Question on army movement
Hello,
What is prohibited you from moving to a region is probably the weather. Once every four years you have bad weather and may blizzards or sandstorms happen ( in some harsh places more ) .
It is indeed a well made game, and with mods one of the best.

Re: Question on army movement
Fell free to ask any questions and check the other recent threads. Harsh weather affects regions movement cost. You can't pass through Alpines (has a chance of happening even during fair weather), Mountains and Deserts with graphical weather effects over them. Most of the other terrains will have increased movement cost and defense bonuses, but reduced frontage, flank, forage value. Quick examples:
Marshes have 5 main squares, 0 flanking squares, 2 defense rating and 4 MP cost and 1 naval MP cost. During harsh weather marsh freezes over and now you have 6 main squares, 1 defense rating, 2 MP cost and impassible for the naval units. Also, marsh has lower Production per Pop.
Small rivers freeze too and don't drain extra MP.

Re: Question on army movement
Thanks for your responses. The harsh weather was effectively the reason why I can't move to the region, because in the next turn, I was able to move.
However, I'm not sure if I have understood correctly this: "You can't pass through Alpines (has a chance of happening even during fair weather), Mountains and Deserts with graphical weather effects over them"
That means that the weather effects are visible in the map? I didn't notice any special, but maybe I was not using the right map mode.
Again thanks for your time.

Re: Question on army movement
They should have altered name like Scorched Desert and some graphical effect to identify them easier (like dust storm for desert or smth like that). The reason for that is as you could proly notice already: not every Mountain, Alpine or Desert region becomes impassable when Harsh Weather is active. Many of them has increased MP cost, Defense value and reduced frontage similar to Marsh, but you can still move through them.
Use Europa Barbarorum or Remote Regions mod to make Harsh Weather more dynamic instead of occurring every set amount (4) of turns. If you want to use only that particular feature, PM me and I'll tell you how to merge it properly.

You should notice clouds (of sand or snow) yes. It might be a bit subdued though, you have to look to see them easily.Pakojo wrote: ↑Sun Apr 18, 2021 8:22 pm Thanks for your responses.
