Letter to Capitana Ana Sofia Vega

Post by NautiLaus »

Rschew, den 20.Dezember 1941

Werte Capitana Ana Sofia Vega,

Hochachtungsvoll
General Karl Schrader

Maybe some of you can translate, Microsoft can't without changing the meaning of the text. sorry :(

I came into this thread with a pre-conceived notion: "Here comes another request for more character writing, people want to see all of Wagner's letters to Ana Sofia, not just her letters to Wagner."
To which I was already ready to reply with: everyone's campaign story is unique and depending on your individual scenario highlights and campaign path choices, your playthrough becomes the story of what he would write back and describe to her.

I did not expect a written letter from Wagner's Commander (General Player)... I dunno what to say really. I guess thanks for taking a moment to write, and share, it. :)

It reminds me of a scene from a movie. People remember Saving Private Ryan for that epic beach battle scene, or the final stand on the bridge at the end.
But when I go back and think about that movie, I remember this scene:

According to Google Translate (which clearly isn't perfect either, but good enough to get the point across):

Rzhev, December 20, 1941

Dear Capitana Ana Sofia Vega,

I regret to inform you that Captain Stefan Wagner can unfortunately no longer read your letter. During the advance on Gomel on August 29th this year, he is with
Mogilev was ambushed and killed in battle. The loss of this upright and extraordinary person is all the more painful for me because it has been with me
served as Ordonance Officer our time in Spain. Your letter with the happy news of the birth of his daughter would certainly have caused him great joy, especially since he often heard from you
spoke. I know he would have been a good father to little Johanna and a loyal husband to you too. So my thoughts are whole during this difficult time
to you and I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere condolences. Even if this loss weighs heavily, it fills me with joy that with little Johanna
part of this excellent person and officer lives on, preserve this legacy, also for Germany!

Thx adiekmann & monkspider :!:

To Kerensky:
I agree 100 %, the UT-Link brings exactly the feeling I'm thinking of...
In this case I was inspired by a book (Einen bessern findst du nicht - A.Engermann) I have read when is was 17. It descreibes the way of a german soldier and his captain through the 2.WW.
I remember the part when they sat the whole night in the back of the front, writing letters to the parents/mothers and wifes of the fallen comrades and the captain placed values on it
that each letter received a personal note...
Althoug PC2 is another PG-clone, I would like to thank Slitherine (and the devs) bringing back this fantastic strategic wargame by giving it a deeper gameplay and a real human touch!
Not only for the story of Wagner and Capitana Vega and her letters to him (and from Wagners mother!), I also think of the polish refugees in the AO 1939 on the decision to save their
lives by spending commendation-points...
So let me say, you made a real good job, this is absolute great Work! Thank you for this...
