hi guys,
I just want to give a few quick thoughts on how the prestige overflow could be handled in a more organic way
1. Make the player pay for unit promotions. The units still need the amount of kills first for i.e. "Infantry Veteran 1" but then you have to buy it for each unit.
2. Make the player pay if he chooses to alter the Hero Traits in between DLCs
3. Offer the player the opportunity to "gamble" for another hero (with a percentage cost of players prestige)
3.b Make all heroes have a hiring fee and offer the player several hero options (with some heroes beeing more expensive than others, most obvious in Rapid Fire 1.5/2.0)
4. Introduce an option where surrender is possible but does not give prestige.
5. Introduce an option where the players useable prestige per battle (before or after deployment) is cut to 5000/4000/3000/2000/1000 (or similar).
Those could of course be combined in any way. And maybe make some or all of these percentage based.
What do you guys think?
And on a side note:
Deadly Grasp could be nerfed a bit by letting the "double tick" come into effect only on the players turn. So encircled enemies would only suffer the normal 2 suppression on their turn giving them a slightly better chance to react.

Re: Better prestige sinks + Deadly grasp
Well, i dont think, that there are any changes on prestige gain/sink needed. New players will have the problem of prestige starving. At least it was my biggest struggle when i started pc2. Now i raise my challenge/difficulty for every new playthrough.
There are a lot of way to shorten your personal prestige gain, if u like it. Dont use trophys trait, dont use the surrender heros. Some negative Traits are REAL prestige burner,

leave prestige alone!!!! or make your restrictions an advanced option. when you have to surrender prestige for commendations it kills us unadvanced [layers
Re: Better prestige sinks + Deadly grasp
Prestige overflow is driven by Blitzkrieg, Surrender, Encircle (etc.) strategy. For the purposes of this discussion, I’ll use the term Surrender.
Let’s use the first mission of SCW (Seville) as an example… there are 625 Prestige flag capture points (not including the flags beyond the mine fields). There are 7,590 Prestige Surrender points of deployed units (this does not include spawn units which can increase it 1,000+). This also doesn’t include Strongholds/Bunkers.
If the player surrendered only 25% of the deployed unit strength, they would gain 2,000 Prestige. This Prestige would double if Trophies of War is used.
The player must select the correct traits/challenges to make Prestige a value asset. For example, increase the difficulty level, don’t use Trophies, and check Europe on a Shoestring to accommodate for Prestige overflow. Don’t select David vs. Goliath because this makes the Prestige overflow even worse by adding substantial Prestige value to all enemy units.
If the player still finds Prestige excessive but doesn’t want to select non-historical traits/challenges, it’s best to change the Rules.json file. If they don’t know how to do this, I recently uploaded a Steam Mod for this purpose. The mod increases the cost of Elite Reinforcements.
I’ve got about 120 hours with this mod and really enjoy the strategy/challenge it creates in terms of Prestige and Reinforcements. I feel this adds value to Prestige without having to sacrifice historical strategy. If a greater Prestige challenge is needed… please let me know. There are always more items that can be changed to accommodate for this.
Re: Better prestige sinks + Deadly grasp
Yeah, I and quite some others want to experience that struggle again. (making the prestige sinks optional as suggested seems the way to go of course)
And I dont like the current choices available.
I want to play the mobile warfare with master of blitzkrieg and perimeter control and bold encirclements. Its totally awesome. Its an absolute breath of fresh air to the genre.
But once you realized the very basics of the game (who does and who does not want to be in close terrain, cover exposed units, dont attack enemy tanks 1on1) - no matter what u do, u end up swimming in prestige.
Having an option where surrender does not give money would be awesome.
Because it is usually the most effective way to just surrender a heavy french, british or soviet tank. I dont want the prestige. I just want the roadblock gone asap.

Re: Better prestige sinks + Deadly grasp
I can understand this. Tbh i stopped my latest playthrough, because it was to easy and therefore unfun. My point was, a change to prestige shouldnt be forced to all player, because there might be the risk of new players not finding into the game.
I am ok with the prestige draining challenges the game offers due to negative traits and/or special challenges but i would be completly ok with more options to alter the prestige gain, if some1 want it. Sounds like a new negative trait like, surrendering units wont offer prestige. Or something like on an new scenario u lose 25%/50%/75%/90% of your current prestige special challenge
I would prefer a system like in FGII, echange prestige for moe coreslots or CP. or sacrifice some cp for prestige and so on. like 10000 prestige for 1 more coreslot.
But as mentioned i wouldnt change prestige for all players, let it be a choice and im ok with everything xD
