Kushites 800 points

Post by spikemesq »

I was working over my Kushites to come up with an 800 point FoG list. From memory (books at home) this is what I have so far:

BG 4 x Lt Chariots LCh/Superior/Undrilled/Bow 68
BG 4 x Lt Chariots LCh/Superior/Undrilled/Bow 68
BG 4 x Hvy Chariots HCh/Superior/Undrilled/Bow 80
BG 4 x Hvy Chariots HCh/Superior/Undrilled/Bow 80
BG 4 x Kushite Cav Cv/Armoured/Superior/Undrilled/Lt spear/Sw 64
BG 4 x Kushite Cav Cv/Armoured/Superior/Undrilled/Lt spear/Sw 64
BG 4 x Kushite Cav Cv/Armoured/Superior/Undrilled/Lt spear/Sw 64
BG 6 x Kushite Archers LF/Unprotected/Average/Undrilled/Bow 30
BG 6 x Kushite Archers LF/Unprotected/Average/Undrilled/Bow 30
BG 8 x Kushite Archers MF/Protected/Average/Undrilled/Bow 48
BG 6 x Kushite Slingers LF/Unprotected/Average/Undrilled/Sling 24
BG 8 x Kushite Archers MF/Unprotected/Average/Undrilled/Bow 40

4 x TC 140

12 BGs

To shift the chariots towards more LCh or more HCh, I will need more figures, which I may order (at least more LCh). I am interested in comments to this list.

Thanks in advance.

I think two heavy and two light chariots are too balanced.

The thing to remember is the heavy chariots are not the shock arm that people suppose. Basically you get a POA for being heavy. But an enemy sword also counts.

So I favor going more or less on the heavy's.

I ran 3 at Challenge with Sais (Later Dynastic) egyptians.
The real question is do you want all the armoured Cav. Consider one as protected. It will still fight versus evens against everything in period.

Then add something more.

Your comments make a lot of sense.

The current chariot split comes from my available figures as much as anything else. The more I look at this army, the more I long for more LCh stands. Perhaps 3 BGs of LCh and 1 BG of HCh would be better.

As to shaving points to buy more BGs, I struggle with what to add. The foot is pretty suck, so dialing down the mounted to get more of it does not excite me.

I am also fiddling with a list that adds a Libyan Egyptian ally, which would provide some better foot (i.e., Mighty Mesh Wesh!). That also requires some new figures (proper Egyptian LCh, for instance).

Thanks again.

In period I would try and get an IC. There's a lot of shooty stuff out there.
