If player A has Medieval and Ancients, and player B has just Ancients and they are drawn against each other; then presumably player A has to set the game up.
Can player B pick the game up, am not sure if it is going to show up in the Ancients challenges ?

I just tried to test this and unless I'm missing something it doesn't look promising. So I set up a timewarp match in Medieval and it showed up in the Medieval list of challenges I then closed Medieval and fired up Ancients and could not find the match in the challenge list. Running both games via steam so they should both be up to date versions.

I have just tested it and set up a MP Achaemenid v Tatar challenge and it seems OK to me. Is anybody else having an issue with this please?

I tested it myself and couldn't get it to work.
Looking at your test game, Achaemenid vs Tartar, it appears in Medieval but not in Ancients. So I don't think a player without Medieval is going to be able to pick it up.
