Weekly round-up
pantherboy (Achaemenid) is the new champion of the Biblical section after posting his seventh win this week. Aetius39 (Assyrian) and MorkinTheFree (Lydian) will share the runners-up spot and SLancaster (Egyptian) will definitely be relegated unless he can beat pantherboy in his last match. It is incredibly close still in Division B with 4 players still in with a mathematical chance of winning automatic promotion. DzonVejn (Median) still has a very precarious lead, but the outcome of the BishUK (Achaemenid) and lydianed (Egyptian) "mirror match" will surely see one or both of them go past him. The other "mirror match" to be completed sees ahuyton (Egyptian) face kraff (Skythian). 2 wins for kraff might be enough for him to secure automatic promotion and ahuyton needs 3 points to avoid relegation and send IMC (Thracian) down. Nothing to report in Division C this week where we are waiting to see if SpeedyCM (Median) can get 5 points from his 2 matches against deeter (Babylonian) to win automatic promotion. In Division D random27 (Median) has finished on 36 points after rs2excelsior (Assyrian) defaulted on his last 2 matches. toska (Lydian) can equal that score if he gains maximum points from his last 4 matches against carpenkm (Egyptian) and Tratmot (Urartian). In Division E GeneralKostas (Median) won the first leg in his relegation decider with gamercb (Hebrew), while everything is finished in Division F now.

Weekly round-upA first setback for clear leader harveylh (German) this week after a score-less draw with Snugglebunnies (Polish). A flurry of wins for ruskicanuk (English) has seen him move into second place 5 points behind harveylh, but he only has 1 match left. klayeckles (Irish) is still in the hunt with 4 wins from 6 starts. In Division B we are awaiting the outcome of the ericdoman1 (Mongol) v Triarii (Teutonic) match to decide the automatic promotion place. ericdoman1 must get 4 points otherwise oscarius (Scots Isles) will win the division. At the bottom Challenge1 (German) suffered his fifth consecutive defeat and is in deep relegation trouble now. tyronec (German) still leads Division C and is 6 points ahead of third-placed Jagger2002 (Bohemian), who dropped his first points this week in a score-draw with Karvon (Bulgar). Jagger2002 has 3 games in hand over tyronec whose last match is a tricky one against Karvon. In Division D SpeedyCM (Mongol) won the first 4 point maximum of the 5 he needs to deprive Captainwaltersavage (Bohemian) of automatic promotion. It is still extremely slow in Division E but that has not stopped Morat (Polish) notching his fifth win in 5 starts to go 11 points ahead of second-placed Zawzgrzyt (Hungarian). No such reluctance in Division F where everyone has contributed to an exciting contest, which has been won by CyberHetman (Polish) after he defeated close rival Kroche (Irish) in a crucial match this week. Marvin_the_Arvn could still pip Kroche for second place, if he can beat Brenmusik (Scots) and if Kroche loses his last match to the same player. Brenmusik can still equal CyberHetman's points total, but he was beaten in their fixture together so cannot overtake him. A fabulous division with some excellent performances from the new players.

Division D

General Shapur - Anglo Danish 1017-1041 AD with Welsh allies draws with random27 - Arab, Abbasid 874-946 AD with Arab, Syria/Iraq allies 54:52

My Danes formed up in a square checkerboard block. We knew there would be hprse archers and footarchers with spearmen. The idea was to charge to the infantry and make short work of them while using the box formation to hold of flanking attacks by the massed cavalry.

Well, the plan worked insofar as we made it to the infantry line and cut the foot troops down. However, the cavalry proved too hard to catch after I lost all my mounted troops. When I attacked he evaded, when he attacked he bounced.

A struggle that went the full distance.

In a very exciting contest, CyberHetman and his Polish army registered 8 wins from his 9 matches to win automatic promotion from Division F of the High Middle Ages section. A mention must also go to Kroche and Marvin_the_Arvn for their excellent performances. Well played CyberHetman.

Division D

Blagrot - Andalusian 756-1049 AD beat random27 - Arab, Abbasid 874-946 AD with Arab, Syria/Iraq 1009-1150 allies 66% - 53%

My initial plan of killing all the horses while holding up the infantry with my cavalry came close to suceeding a couple fo times but Random got his troops across quickly enough to keep me under a 25% margin, eventually both sides cavalry started rear cahrging the infantry fight but I had done enough early damage to carry the fight. Of note was one unit each that won a combat but auto-broke to the handful of casualties they suffered in doing so Thanks for the game.

I think Kronenblatt may be correct. I've pushed the "End Stalled Game" button several times but the match remains. Is the functionality disabled?

I think there is a problem with it from the upgrade and we are waiting for it to be fixed. Sorry, I didn't realise that had happened. Instructions for claiming matches and what to do if a challenge is not answered by an opponent are to be found in the Rules of Competition and Player's Guide.
