Can vikings change

Post by blackbeard »

Hi guys,

was just sorting through some old boxes of figures and found a load of vikings, some with mail some with padded armour or no armour at all, 90% of them with hand weapons mainly Axes.

My question is this could they be used for more than one army other than vikings, such as Isles and Higlands.

I would think so. Particularly in the Anglo-saxon type lists. If you had a good portion with Spear maybe even Rus. But probably more great anglo geogrpahy 6-9th centuries could be within "reason"

Most Vikings should be spear armed. Mine will be doubling as Anglo-Saxon and Anglo-Danish.

Unless you are facing opponents who need "all the buttons to be correct in all details" a mix can be used. True, most viking raiders did likely not have swords and axes only as weapons.

It's very likely that many of those seafarer raiders on their first season of raiding would not have fancy/ armour, a metal rimmed shield or even a great looking 8 to 9 foot spear....yet.

Normally if the minie "looks" correct on the tabletop opponents will "see it" as you label them/tell them they are.
