Masakado

Post by tora_tora_tora »

There exists tool to Mod campaign.

As I'm really not good at PC, though I want to make Masakado Campaign.
And I want to play other people's Mod, so I start to develop one and let people laugh at my failures,
perhaps this might help someone start to make their own.

Taira no Masakado 平(taira たいら タイラ) 将門(masakado まさかど マサカド) was a historical figure,
there exists some historical sorces, and at that era, it seems samurai in early ages sometimes fight against each other.
and there in this era, bushi(武士) starts to develop its own society. 将門 is one of early exsample of 武士, some people think so.

2006 6 4

read sticky announce and done several steps.
add Mod dir
add line "ADMIN 1" in user.txt file
copy DB dir into Mod dir
and start LA.

till here there is no trouble at all.
but before proceeding farther, I happen to remember I forgot to save current data. So I start campaign,
and once I start campaign, it is hard to stop halfway.

Well, bro, you dont actually copy things to the \mod dir, you make a dir under \mod with the name of your mod.

So, for me with my Britannicus campaign, the actual path is -

Code: Select all

C:\Program Files\BlackBean\LegionArena\Mod\Brit
Then under that, I have copies of the \Data and \db directories, like this -

Code: Select all

C:\Program Files\BlackBean\LegionArena\Mod\Brit\data

C:\Program Files\BlackBean\LegionArena\Mod\Brit\DB
If you have that setup correctly, then right after you start Legion Arena, a screen will popup asking you to choose either your mod (with the name of the dir under \mod, in my case "brit") or "none", meaning the stock game.

Another thing worth remembering is that your mod directories only need to contain those files you have changed.

If you're serious about doing this, by all means let's talk. I learned a lot in making the Britannicus mod, and I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Just please remember that I'm a baka gaijin, and I don't speak any nihongo at all ;)

Thank you. Possum.

So I made masakado dir under Mod dir.

C:\Program Files\BlackBean\LegionArena\Mod\Masakado

After opening movies, campaign selection screen appears.
and in Option menu, there appears "design" button. Now, let me see, not totally different from what I am used to see,
though there are some differences.

Yeah, there are a few really odd quirks.

The one that drove me nuts was the way the scenario list keeps re-ordering itself, and the odd little unexplained symbols that appear next to some scenarios in the list.

Near as I can tell, the little rotating yin/yang symbol means you've played that scenario since you edited it last?

Sorry, bro, but I can't see the pic on that page, and I have no clue what Piperoid is :)

But as far as Legion Arena modding, feel free to ask me any questions you may have.

Forgive me for boasting, but I am the only person outside of Slitherine to actually release an LA mod thus far. If you run into a problem, chances are very good I've encountered it also, and found a solution or work-around :)

<Piperoid

One of the architects of Famicon(TV game console) later made his own company, and pieroid is one of their products.
It's assortments of paper pipes and people cut pipes with scissors and construct paper robots.
So it's a toy. Well, Nintendo is traditionally a maker of traditional card games(花札, hanafuda). So reminding of thishistory,
it's a kind of natural forr them to develop this kind of toys.
