unit size differences

Post by General Shapur »

all of my games in the current league tournament have unit sizes of infantry offensive spears around 240 and cav around 120

except one that has around 840 inf offensive spear sizes and cav 400 sizes

they are all medium battles.

What is causing the disparity in unit sizes, is it a mod of some sort one player might have?, does it affect the game in any way. I seem to have got completely rolled by a 100% cav force vs my infantry - wondering if this might have had some impact.

cheers

The army lists use different strength modifiers for different nations in Custom Battles, so that army sizes are historically plausible. When two armies with different strength modifiers fight, both sides use the average.

In historically-based Campaigns the Strength Modifier for each battle is based on the historical situation.

It is purely cosmetic. It only affects the displayed numbers of men and does not affect game play in any way. Obviously, reported casualties will be different depending on the strength modifier, but they will be in exactly the same proportion to the size of the units whatever the strength modifier used.

See manual, section 29.1

(In Field of Glory 2: Ancients, the same technique was used for Epic Battles and historically-based Campaigns, but not for Custom Battles)
