Geffalrus (Byzantines) barely defeats harveylh (Ummayads) 63-56

Close match pretty much from the beginning. My expensive elites did their best to break through the center, while his cavalry did their best to work around my flanks. We traded units up until the very end when I was lucky enough to be in combat with a fragmented unit, while harvey's Dailami were still approaching my soon-to-be-devoured raw skutatoi. Change that timeline by a turn or two, and harvey would easily have been the winner.

LuciusSulla (Achaemenid) still leads Division A but Questar17 (Etruscan) has moved to within a point with his third straight win. harveylh (Macedonian) also has a 100% record in fifth place and nyczar (Spartan) has started with a win. Division B has a strange look about it with only tyronec (Syracusan) and desertedfox (Gallic) have registered wins so far although there are 3 players still to register their first result. Lots of activity in Division C where ulysisgrunt (Gallic) is still the leader despite losing 3 matches already this season. His main challenger is SpeedyCM (Sertorius), who has started impressively with 3 straight wins. Further back toska (Syracusan) and phoyle3290 (Macedonian) still have unbeaten records. There is a similar situation in Division D where joggy (Spartan) still leads despite losing 3 matches this season. carpenkm (Ptolemaic) is in pursuit with 2 straight wins and Conteshard (Sertorius) has 2 wins from 3 starts. Captainwaltersavage (Roman) has taken a firm grip of proceedings in Division E with 4 straight wins with Barrold713 (Etruscan) in second place after winning his first match. Delbruck's (Achaemenid) position at the top of Division F has been strengthened this week after 2 defeats suffered by his closest pursuer ray552 (Seleucid). MarcoCato75 (Roman) is currently third ahead of Burgot (Jewish), who has recovered well after losing his first 2 matches. Further back, Malabar26 (Thracian) has opened his campaign with a win.

Aetius39 (Anglo-Saxons) defeats GDod (Indian) 48-13

Tough beginning for the Anglo-Saxons as they had to risk a few attacks on the Indian lancers. It was a calculated risk as the armies were bunched up and the lancers couldn't back up, which meant if the shieldwall survived the first round without dropping, the lancers would be easily finished off. Luck was with them as only one disrupted, and it enabled them to push the Indians back and get at their archers. Once that happened, it was all over. GG GDod it was fun!

Weekly round-up
There was another win this week for front-runner ericdoman1 (Indian) in Division A. He has now established a huge lead of 14 points, which the other players may struggle to break down. The most likely challengers at the moment are ConstantinIX (Arab City), who has 2 wins from 3 starts, and both nyczar (Roman) and Triarii (Soissons), who have won their opening match. Not much to report in Division B where tyronec (Arab City) is the early leader. Lots of action in Division C where nearly half the matches have been completed already. joggy (Byzantine) has set a target of 23 points from his 9 matches, but that doesn't look like it is going to be enough to stop Morat (Ostrogoth), who has 4 straight wins so far, or cromlechi (Arab City), who has 4 wins from 5 starts. Division D looks set for a fascinating contest this season. Captainwaltersavage (Palmyran) and ulysisgrunt (Roman) currently share the lead, each with 3 wins from 4 starts, but then there are 3 players - Barrold713 (Bosporan), Conteshard (Roman), and snooky51 (Sassanid) who have all started with 2 straight wins. So there are 5 players lining up for a tilt at the automatic promotion place in this division. Very busy too in Division F where Zawzgrzyt (Dacian) has recovered from his first defeat to head the table from Sgt0gre (Palmyran) in second place. The real danger though, lies further back with CyberHetman (Bosporan) and gjhabcvhj (Roman) both having registered 3 straight wins and with Malabar26 (Lombard) and MarcoCato75 (Sassanid) who have 2 wins apiece. wmpryor (Byzantine) also deserves a mention this week, after losing his first 6 battles he made a mini-recovery to register 2 wins and a draw in his last 3 matches to give himself a fighting chance of avoiding the wooden spoon this season.

A very interesting situation is developing at the top of Division A where Geffalrus (Byzantine) has retained his lead despite losing a recent match to Triarius (Spanish). harveylh (Ummayyad) is still second, despite being narrowly beaten by Geffalrus and the "section specialist" Nosy_Rat is sitting quietly in fifth place having started with 2 straight wins. Division B has started slowly and mr cholo (Dailami) is the early leader with 2 wins from 2 starts. joggy (Viking) is still the leader in Division C after completing 7 matches, but he is being rapidly caught up by tyronec (Ummayyad) who has recorded 4 straight victories so far. MorkinTheFree (Scots-Irish) has also started well with 2 wins and is third. General Shapur (Anglo-Danish) is the early leader in a very quiet Division D where BishUK (Irish) and Blagrot (Andalusian) have also started with a victory each. Lots of action in Division E where MadMaxBot (Byzantine) has moved to the top of the table with his third win from 4 starts. Unbeaten BobGanoush (Fatimid) is 2 points further back with a game in hand. Morat (Georgian) and Spacemonkey76 (Viking) share third place and Stormcrow (Norman) has started with a win. Delbruck (Byzantine) remains the leader in Division F ahead of telesien (Anglo-Danish), while both Malabar26 (Rajput) and Josey Wales (Anglo-Saxon) have taken closer order this week. At the bottom, both Sgt0gre (Ghaznavid) and wmpryor (Pictish) recorded their first wins after suffering multiple defeats.

This section is still very slow. Nothing new to report in Division A other than CheAhn has been replaced by ruskicanuk (Phoenician). In Division B only ahuyton (Kushite) is yet to register his first win; everyone else has 4 points.In Division C Spacemonkey76 (Assyrian) registered his first wins against deeter (Babylonian) while, again, there is nothing new to report in Division D. SawyerK (Lydian) recorded his third straight victory to take a big lead in Division E. No such lethargy to be found in Division F where nearly three-quarters of the matches have been completed already. dim30 (Thracian) has narrowed the gap on Burgot (Hebrew) to 5 points and he has a game in hand. These two are yet to play each other and the results of these 2 battles will almost certainly decide the outcome of the division.
