So, finally I am about to start this hopefully long adventure with this game.
Will try on Hardest difficulty because I am insane.
I was wondering, Panzer Corps had very strict upgrade paths for units, you had to carefully plan your purchase for the future.
How does the upgrade system work here? Is there a tree l can consult?
{unrelated, but do not make me open another thread: why my starting infantry unit in the tutorial has a "half flag" circle symbol, while the other has a full flag? }

Re: Upgrade Trees
No, you dont need to know, because even if you upgrade the right path (eg pz 4 F1 to pz 4 F2), you just get a very little discount. The upgrade cost in OoB is extremely expensive compare to PC and you dont get 50% cheaper in deployment phase.
But it alse has its own advantage, like you can instantly elite repair unit to full strength while upgrading between battle (full repair just gives maximum 5 strength point), and again, a little discount when you do so than elite repair + upgrade. The slow progressive will make your core more historical than ever, like, still using panzer 4 F2 to last battle of afrika korp (1943).
Otherwise, if you have played PC, the tech tree will be the very same. You cant go wrong with panzer 4/panther, M4 and T-34. Or bf-109/fw 190, spitfire and yak/la fighter series. But aircrafts often take serious damage so you will see it frequently upgrades to the best unit.
Anti air, artillery (the towed ones), scout wont have update tech, but you usually have the best ones very soon in campaign.
Lastly, like PC, units in OoB can move then shot (but shot will end turn immediately), if you just move, than the light circle remains half, that means you can shot or slightly repair afterward.

Re: Upgrade Trees
Understood, thank you.
So, considering this huge upgrade costs, do you suggest to save money for better equipment, or should I try to fill all available slots right away and then slowly upgrade (preferably when units sustain huge casualties)?
Keep in mind that I play on Hardest setting.
By the way, I noticed that on large scenarios ai turns make the fps go very low. Is that normal? Do you recommend disabling AI calculation during animations?

Re: Upgrade Trees
Yes, as i explained before, you should keep money to upgrade heavy damaged units to the best units at that moment.
The harder difficulty, the more you rely one fresh replacement and arty/stra bomber. The 3rd diff is the perfect diff for every one to feel and know the game, like, avoid a boring core team.
Finally yes, even my pc is far more than spec requirement, it causes some lags, heavily down FPS, sometimes full disk if you install game on HDD (other softwares cant work correctly if the game tap on in AI turn). Trying to install game in a sata 3 SSD can solve half trouble, better FPS on AI turn, but still a down
