Remove unit from command line in deployment

Post by Hrafnagudh »

Hello all,
this is my first FoG game and I'm having a lot of fun, I love it.
As from title, I don't find a way to remove units from a command, during deployment. This is a little problem in 2 cases, when by mistake I put the light archers that are by themselves, in a line command, or when there are peasants that I wish stay in the back, following the whole command. So, how do I get a unit out of a command line?
Thanks a lot, have a nice day all!

You need to use the Switch Command order to move them to another command. (You can do this only during the Deployment phase of the game)

If there are no units left in their original command then you won't be able to move them back to that command. You can't remove a unit from a command and create a new command. (Unless you still have extra sub-generals to place. When you place a sub-general that unit will automatically form a new command).

In the example below I have "accidentally" moved the selected light foot unit into the knight command. The orders cursor is in fact over the other light foot unit, allowing me to move them back to that command.

If a unit in a command has already moved, it won't move with the rest of the command when it does a group move. In your peasants example, you could do a fall back move with the peasants (which won't trigger a cohesion test as the enemy are nowehere near) and then they would not move with the rest of the command.

Thank you very much for the answer.
So if I got it right, if a unit starts deployment in a command, there is no way to "decommand" it, so that it would be by itselves?
For now I only played quick battles, so with army already selected.

That is correct.
