[1.5.34) Chat text scrolling down and disappearing

While playing a multiplayer game in a module of own making (An Empire in Flames v3), the text of the message I was writing in the chat window suddenly scrolled down and disappeared. After a while, it reappeared in the window from the lower part. And disappeared yet again. That happened a few times and when I clicked the "SEND" button, there was no text in the window anymore. (Will advise later whether text was actually logged into chat.)

Strange. Did you try using the up arrow to see if it would scroll up to the text?

Yes, didn't work. At least not immediately. Also: once resurfacing, there were a number of the letter f at the end of message in the text box. And I hadn't pressed that letter.

There must have been some arrow down command somehow. I'll report whether it persists.

I must admit that this sometimes happens when I am typing in the Scenario Briefing space in the Editor. The text just starts to scroll down on it's own. I have always assumed that keys on my keyboard have got stuck, so I save the scenario and finish writing the briefing directly in the Text9.txt file.

Perhaps there is some character that the engine text box text entry code does not like.

Yes, maybe, Although I am certain that I have never intentionally tried to type any unusual characters, it is perfectly possible that I have accidentally hit some strange key. I have never noticed anything odd appearing in the box, but maybe when this mystery key is pressed the game does not recognise it, and it sends the text into an automatic scroll.

This could be a problem that is impossible to trace, but next time it happens I will try to send you the save file and take screenshots.

I also had the same problem recently - I was entering message in chat and it started scrolling spontaneously until all of my message was off-screen (or disappereared entirely?). Scrolling back with arrow keys didn't help.

And I can also advise that the text was (in my case, at least) in fact still there, although not visible, and got stored in the chat history.
