Sun direction

Post by bodkin »

It seems the sun is now behind the players army unlike ancients where it was shining from in front. Is there any way to mod the direction as I prefer to play with the camera facing the front of my army and it looks better to me when the sun is directly lighting their uniforms and shields rather than in shadow.

It was done that way originally because edging the silhouette with a rim light was felt to make the reading of the different shapes easier.
But a lot of people complained that they couldn't see the bright coloured costumes quite so well and that that was more important than readability of the silhouette. So it was changed.

I don't see why you couldn't edit all the lighting files, remove the - from the light positions so they point the other way. Of course you absolutely should not do that to your original files so someone else will have to tell you how to set up a mod.
Since its nothing specific to Medieval I would suggest you post your request here.

Yes thanks, it seems removing the - sign from the third number under DIRECTION in the [WORLDLIGHT] section of the txt files in the Lighting folder gets the lighting how I prefer.
