Hi
I'm just finishing off a Classical Greek army and wondered if people usually included an officer, standard bearer and musician in their Hoplite BG's for visual effect?
Actually I'm not sure if Hoplites had standards anyway but would be grateful for your thoughts.
I use Magister Militum (15mm) figures and they do not do any musicians for their Greeks so was also wondering if anyone knows of any other manufacturers who do musicians/standard bearers who would fit in with MM figures.
Cheers Paul

Within the BG I usually put one guy blowing a trumpet and a 'commander type' figure.
This is an old army, so it goes back to 7th Edition. If I was to do it again (and I am building a Magister Militum 10mm Romanesque army) I would (and am) put something to distinguish the edge of the BG. There is nothing worse when you have a line of 5 BG's of Offensive Spear trying to work out where the edge of the BG is. So, I would have something like a 'file marker' of a guy dressed differently, or a guy blowing a trumpet right in the middle of the BG or something similar.

Xyston makes the most impressive range of hoplite I know and they make a good range also of officer, standard bearer and musicians, but I cannot know if they are mixable with MM.paul319 wrote:I use Magister Militum (15mm) figures and they do not do any musicians for their Greeks so was also wondering if anyone knows of any other manufacturers who do musicians/standard bearers who would fit in with MM figures.
Don't forget hoplite officer must stay to the right!

they definitely used trumpets in the line. wearing the helmets meant that commands couldn't be heard, but the trumpets would.paul319 wrote:Hi
