More signs like tilde (~) in TEXT.txt files?

As far as I know, no.

I believe most of the standard string modifiers should work in text file strings.

Ah, my apologies for the incorrect information I gave. I have only used those controls in scripts. I haven't tried using them in the actual text files.

Thanks, pip: I worked perfectly! (Although the italics are difficult to get nice, I guess.) Just a trial below:
