Horse transport is surprisingly useful in desert as it never runs out of fuel, is sometimes faster than a truck and can enter some terrain that trucks can't.
I assume mules have Alpine move but have 1 less move (mine do).
If so inclined you could add camels which would be unaffected (or less affected) by dunes, rough desert and desert, but that's probably not going to have a lot of use.

In the right hands cavalry and horse drawn vehicles can sometimes be more useful and faster than trucks )

Great camel icons.
I saw your fuel truck and thought it was a water bowser. I had visions of some strategic oases in a big map. If they aren't in your control, chance of 1 strength loss per turn, for units in the dry zone. Destroy the enemy water tanker / depot to inflict strength loss on the enemy.
This could be used to make crossing dry areas possible but risky - do you guard the (supposedly) impassible flank? Secure the oasis? Hunt down lrdg patrols? Seek and destroy the enemy depot/water truck?

I don't like vanilla Big Units picture. Looking like a plastic models :(

"On February 12, 1941, the advanced units of the German Afrika Korps under the command of Rommel arrived in Tripoli. The main force of the Afrika Korps was not due to arrive in Tripoli until a month later, but even by the end of March, it still hadn't fully arrived.

The first thing Rommel did was to order mock-ups of tanks, installing fake guns on Volkswagen cars in order to deceive the British into thinking that the German forces were significantly larger than they really were."

Few words about changes AT Units in Mod:
- Coefficient for AT changed to 2, instead 3 (!).

For example, in Wermacht AT Company = 12 pcs = 6 Str [6].
Pz.Jg.Abt (Batallion) = 3 Company x12 pcs =36 pcs.
So, in terms PzC its means : one Unit [18] or 2x [9].

Yep, DAK used captured and redesigned Soviet F-22. Of coz, Im will introduce it in my Mod.

Few words about Small Scale Units, like StuPz I for example.

StuPz I (was produced 38 pcs, 6 Battery for 6 Pz.Division)
7th PzDiv was attached 705 Battery. (Str [6] Unit)
