Bay of Pigs Scenario

Post by johnrey »

It's 1961 and Cuban exiles with better financing and coordination by the CIA have landed on the beaches in the Bay of Pigs to overthrow the Castro Regime and install a caretaker government. With help from the Marines, they must seize the airfield, capture vital supply depots, and ultimately the train depot and junction that leads inland to Havana. Will they be more successful this time? I am new to scenario design and would like some feedback. If interested, PM me for the link to the scenario.

I really do not like such an idea. First, because it is not really a war, but a political scenario. Second because this game does not provide appropriate historical weapons in order to properly replicate this what-if hypothesis; and thirdly because the many other strategic variables in place are difficult to reproduce in such conditions.

Well a full scale Invasion Cuba scenario (and some semi-covert prequels) would be most interesting, but since it's 1961, there must be "modern" weapon systems, such as SAM and jet aircraft with missiles and radars... Similar problems like with a Vietnam scenario. I know I did a lot of experiments. Also, such scenarios have to be at small scale (company or less) which requires a weapon range and abilities mod as well as revision of speed values in some cases. Not impossible - doable, but not so easy. Then, make the scenario on that foundation. I can help, even make a MiG-15 fighter, if you need.

Thanks for comments. To clarify, it's not a political scenario. It's a typical beach landing, where Marines must establish a beachhead, seize and hold supply depots, and move quickly to seize the train depot. The landing force is rewarded with a fighter plane if they capture the airfield, reinforcements if they capture supply depot, etc., As noted...the big drawback is the scenario uses 1940s infantry, tanks, and planes, not 1960s period -- this makes it much less realistic. It raises other questions, and forgive this post if these questions have been asked and answered: (1) Does OOB have any plans to go beyond WWII? (2) Are there other tactical/strategic games for post WWII?
