Getting the game.

Post by stormbringer3 »

If I download the base game and update it with the latest patch could anyone give me a guess on how many Gigs that will be? I live in a rural area with a Telcom data plan that has a monthly cap. I guess I could download and not update it but with all the improvements over the years it might not give me a accurate feel for the game and whether to buy the DLCs.
Thanks.

7.1.4 setup is 2.63GB
8.6.5 update is 1.44GB

You can test the base game as is to get a feel of the game, but you really want/need to update at some point.

Thank you for the answer. The 4 GBs you indicate is definitely doable for me. When the new DLC comes out later this month with the latest game patch that'll be another 1.44+ GB to update?
Thanks again.

You may want to consider using the Steam version of the game. Their update system works incremental and the download sizes are usually very small.

You get free Steam codes when you buy at Slitherine.
I think I have Steam codes for all installments except Britannia.

This means you can run 2 instances of OOB. Nice if you participate in beta (Steam only), but need access to the official PBEM-server for multiplayer games.
Also you can design a scenario in one OOB while playing a game in the other. Or run two different scenarios/campaigns.

Thanks for the steam recommendation but I'm one of those who only use Matrix.

Thanks to your GBs info, I'm downloading from the Matrix site right now.

Erik, I assume that you have the same arrangement with Slitherine/Matrix and receive the same commission for each game sale as I do. :)

We wish...
That said, I would have paid for each and every DLC if I haden't applied as beta tester.
Can you tell I love this little game?

Do you have the GOG version of the game & DLCs ? You can always buy them if it’s not the case
