Yes, probably a Bf 109 is the best at this point. But you do not seem to have enough prestige for that. However, the German High Command is already in talks with the Minor Axis Allies and it looks like they will increase their war effort: they have agreed to send some more infantry and other light units to the front before the next summer. Which means the number of core units will go over 200 again a couple turns later. So perhaps it is better to purchase a cheaper artillery indeed, only to fill up the core. But if you can afford somehow, go for the fighter.

All this talk has made me keen for another shot.
Out of curiosity, what's the difference in game rules between 1.14 and 1.20?

I am tenuous on my hold around Leningrad, but hopeful about my Northern push.
My hold on the Crimea is tenuous, and Rostov is going to be a tough slog.

I am able to buy a unit, and Pete has recommended a Fighter if I can afford, but I was thinking artillery. Thoughts?
The Allied and SU airforce will become stronger in 1942 and every year thereafter, I suggested a fighter to help you keep your ground units a bit more protected from SU bombers. If you lose control over the airspace it will be difficult.

Thanks for all the feedback. Just curious I know you saw the gap in the Moscow defense. Do you recommend sending a tank in that gap? If so which one?

I have put the link here as I would like more people to give you feedback... since I know many people have played the mod...

Regarding the gap: it surprised me to see a gap there. Yes, the gap should be used/leveraged for sure.

However, the gap alone won't solve the situation around Moscow. I think you have IIIH and IIIJ close by, I would probably go with IIIJ as I think it is stronger, just make sure you don't get it forced to surrender I would say...

Taking out the SU artilleries would be helpful I guess...

When will we see the next turn?

When will you see the next turn? That will be a tough slog. I am coming on the holidays and time with family is becoming a high priority. I spent sometime unsuccessfully trying Belgorod. Very frustrating, I should wait for Soren's playthrough on Manstein, but I like trying before he just demonstrates how to completely dismantle a map.

Let's just say I will be gone all weekend, but I will try and record one more before we leave on Saturday to upload on Monday or Tuesday when I return.

I went ahead and took a look at days 20-23 of your playthrough to do a comparison of where I am at am about to post on my channel in the New Year!!!

It really surprises me, but I feel like in many theaters I am doing better than you are Pete.

Granted Malta is done for you, where I am not even really able to threaten them. :(
You are also attempting an Operation Sea Lion. I am not that bold.

But you are suffering in Africa where I am poised to assault El Alamein.
Rostov is just being accosted and I am much further in all other areas of the map, except in Moscow.

I am excited to show you where I am at in my playthrough.

Yes, I know you are doing better in most theaters and I hope it will stay this way... but I think there is also this English saying:

Operation Sea Lion is required for a DV.

When is your next turn coming?

It would be much easier to follow the BE playthrough if you were posting two videos per week (IMHO).

Happy New Year!

I know, I know. I do what I can, but I need to post it on the 2nd as I want to chat with people as they may be able to watch and the 1st is something I am not sure I will be up for watching it alongside people.

I hope to get recording this weekend again so I can post earlier next week, no promises though. ;)

I may give it another try as well, i.e. based on version 2.0 with the hardest settings on the oil crisis but starting from Poland plus dice chess... just not sure I want to do Sea Lion right now because this requires some coordination... will see if/when time allows

Downloaded yesterday, oh man this amazing, very close to reality, everything, the maps, the units, artillery downgrading in kills, the different battlegrounds....

Playing blind starting 41, General difficulty, I guess default settings.
Reached turn 10 , lots of questions though.

How you resupply a U boat, stacked in the middle of Atlantic with no fuel?
How you buy replacements for recon aircraft's? and aircraft in general?
How you re fuel ships in general?
Also, there is 17cm artillery piece in the east, how can I reinforce to full strength? Bring it back to Germany?

Still a puzzle for me, not enough knowledge.

Soon I will post an update

1. I think you can't resupply a U-Boot stuck in the Atlantic with no fuel, unless you use a cheat code
2. Planes in general on any Axis airfields but some planes can't get replacements. It might not be possible to buy replacements for recon airplanes
3. In ports
4. I don't think you can't reinforce to full strength, I think it is at lower strength to simulate the number of 17cm artillery pieces available to the Wehrmacht back then. McGuba scaled units in relative comparison to each other, etc. There were only 338 built, maybe that's why: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/17_cm_Kanone_18

I suggest to read the adjusted in-game library and or the readme file before/when playing.

Please feel free to ask any other questions, here or at the main thread of the mod:

Blind - Battlefield Europe v 2.0: Turn 9 front lines

Advance towards Moscow. Weather is Rainy.
Losses so far two patrol bombers in the Atlantic, one infantry during transport in south front, one Italian tank in Mersa Matruh.
Artillery support is critical to take Moscow.
Kiev encircling not pursued. Leningrad siege has not initiated. Malta was not hit. One air craft carrier was sank west of Malta.
In Afrika the taking of Mersa Matruh resulted in heavy counter attack form the Cairo area. So far successfully.
