Simon's Christian Nubians were roughly:

3 or 4 commanders (including IC)
1 BG armoured lancers
1 BG protected lancers
4 BG light spear cavalry
2 BG light horse
2 BG spear
6 BG of 8 bow
1 BG of light foot

The key seems to be the mix of cavalry and bow.

Camels are bad news for enemy Mtd. if memory serves, causes them to be disordered I think?
even better if there are any cataphract camels - though that may be restricted just to the ancients....

You could have protected camel riders with light spear but with a mass of superior medium foot bow mounted are the least of your worries so the cavalry version who are light spear swordsmen are more useful

To irritate Nik, the well known camel-phobe.

It is indeed true that Nik doesn't like camels. So much so that I hear a rumour that he walked out with a bit of a hissy fit when the number of camels allowed to some of the lists in Lost Scrolls became fully apparent

The camel effect is worth about the same as a PoA. The problem is that the Nubian camels aren't otherwise very well equipped, so it mostly makes up for their not having swords when fighting other mounted.

I recently played Si's Nubians

1 x IC
2 x TC
4 x 4BG Cav Avg Prot Lt Sp
1 x 4 BG Cav Avg Prot lancers
1x 4 BG Cav Sup Arm lancers
2 x 6BG MF Poor Prot DS
1 x 8BG LF Poor UnPr Jav
5 x 8BG MF Sup Unpr Bow
1 x 6BG MF Sup Unpr Bow
2 x 4 BG LH Avg Unpr Lance

And if Paul Brandon reads this - I lost. :(

It's a horrible army to face - unless I guess you have loads of armoured MF / HF?
