Well, I haven't tried this and I doubt I can anytime soon... I think you need to be very proficient in playing PzC (in any aspect) and you need to know the maps really well... :mrgreen:

Lot of times I also wonder how they do such crazy thing, playing on Ultimate.
But as Goose says experience can be earned, once you start to practice it.

2] Belgorod Replay DV turn 11

Success it can done, I replayed the map and got DV Belgorod Turn 11, I am very excited
Towards the end I took losses like on an 17cm artillery, but the alternative strategy of not taking the trigger city it worked like a charm!

As we were discussing with Goose, this map can be won earlier, so turns wise it counts like DV on ultimate.
Details will follow shortly.

Merry Christmas to me. I am 3 days from finishing this battle. I have one question.

I too am seizing the middle objective to not trigger the counter attack. My question is this, does the T-34 rush in and hit the unit that seizes that objective? I ask, because I do not want to take expensive damage on a unit.

Additional comments on Belgorod replay with DV turn 11.

Left flank ferocious attack during first turn and 4 Stukas deployed on map were inspired by latest video from Soren Tjerry,

Also, I used three paratroopers, deployed on air positions, which were dropped in the vicinity of Belgorod the last turns and more Tigers.
The weather was not great I got two muddy turns, that prohibited movement. On the right flank east of Kharkov, it was rather easy to defend, later on leaving few units deployed.
Rail transport its useful if the rail line is open.

I am not keeping this replay, as I have said the 43 campaign has been played already, with some nice heroes.

The screen shots I try to make as contributing as possibly, their aim is to increase replay-ability of the maps.

geez Orel was just released by Soren. I am 35 minutes into it. He makes all difficulties seem so stinking easy. I will use it as a template for my playthrough, unless there are other thoughts on what to do. I will do my best to minimize the soft cap impact. As that makes such a huge impact.

I want to reach 30000 by the end of 43

I have seen it too, he is simply amazing, but not on time for ultimate.
I think main attack from the South is faster.

3] Orel

This can be a rather easy and fun map to play in most of diff settings.
Like Kharkov and Belgorod the Orel map plays around bridges control and counter attacks.
The weather is very supportive to air operations. AI experience is still not a problem, since only 2 stars. Assuming that human player has already reached 3 or 4 stars to his core.

Turns 19
Weather 12% cloudy, 6% rain
Transports: Junkers 4, Trains 10
AI experience: 200 (2 stars)

Units deployed:

In total 11 infantry: two of them SE, two paratroopers
6 tanks: five Tigers and one PzIVG
2 StuGs
11 artillery pieces
Anti-air: 88 x2, mobile flak x2
Airforce: 9 units 5 fighters, two Stukas, two level bombers.

The map offers two new core infantry units and plenty Italian aux units in the south.
This map can be played with different styles of strategy, in my case defense in the north, attack in the south.
According to this play-through, get rid of the 4 SPAAGS during opening turns. Then airforce can smash them. Also, ASAP use of rail transports to divert forces to the south front.

Finished turn 19 with a DV. Ending soft cap: 83%
Losses were normal, except from Bruno Sutkus one of the new units, who was hit seriously in the open.

Seeing the reply after some time, if on ultimate DV and main attack is from the south. DV can be achieved by 12th turn.

For an alternative strategy see Soren Tjerry video with excellent tactics attacking from the north to south east, map wiping, again amazing.

I pause and hit printscreen on PzC then paste on Word, then insert object wirh text and transparency

The arrows very easy color picking and setting width

The infantry puzzle in 43:

1943 is the year of the final upgrades. All infantry units except Kradschützen get their equivalent upgrade.
So, the player is faced with many choices of how to upgrade.


By this time infantry has been accumulated from all previous years. But there is more to come in GC 43.


Orel map and the infantry puzzle.

With the free addition of two more Gebirsjaeger 43 units in Orel turn 2 (Bruno Sutkus and Josef Allenberger), the question arises, as to how many infantry the player should develop and carry over till the end in 45.

The whole matter gets more complicated because in GC 44 we get one more, free Gebirsjaeger 43 (Hetzenauer).
If you think it over, there is NO need to have three more Gebirsjaeger in your core, assuming you have already some. Simply put it, the design of the maps do not call most of the time, for more than two Gebirsjaeger each time. Also, Gebirsjaeger, although upgraded in 43 version, are not that great.

After 43 Panzer Grenadier are considered by most great players as the best type of infantry. Simply, look at the stats! They are tank killers soft attack 7, hard attack 8.

So, what to do with these free Gebirsjaeger 43?
They carry excellent heroes like: Bruno Sutkus: + D2, +Ini 2, Spot1, Exp 285, Josef Allenberger: +A2, +D2, +Ini 3, Exp 285 and in 44 Matthaus Hetzenauer +D3, +Ini 3, +Mov1 Exp 260.

My suggestion is to start using them in your core Asap. Get kills, get more heroes and more stars.

What about their equipment? Should they stay mountain units?
Better, no. In my case, I upgraded with a little delay, to Wehrmacht 43, much better stats. I lost the SE SdKfz 250/1 halftrack, because is very expensive when adding over strength and raises the soft cup. An important issue especially for those playing Rommel, or Ultimate diff.
If any of them gets a movement hero, asap Pz Grenadier.

If you still consider it, but hesitate what to do:
Look at your core, you will find mediocre infantry heroes, that you use them out of necessity or habit. Well, disband the below average ones. Yes, because by seating there lots of time triggers you, to use, develop, get a hero etc.

As a final note, by the end of GC 45 in Berlin my suggestion is to develop a total of ~10 infantry units with 5 stars and if possible with 2-3 heroes in each of them.
