Re: There Can Be Only One! - New Tournament - 1st Round Starting Soon
ROUND 1
Greek Subjugation
Philip's death has caused an uprising in Greece. Though his advisors suggest using diplomacy, Alexander quickly responds by gathering the Macedonian army and goes to quell it! Many men flock to his banner, some of whom are very ambitious...
Armies: Macedonia 355 BC vs. Greek 460 BC
Team 1 VS. Team 5
schmolywar / MarcoCato75 Karvon / rs2excelsior
Team 7 VS. Team 3
SawyerK / deeter Challenge / olin0111
Team 2 VS. Team 6
Aetius39 / tyronec Captainwaltersavage / Kronenblatt
Team 4 VS. Team 8
Stew101 / carpenkm TomoeGozen / snooky51
The above are the teams fighting each other round 1. I used a random number generator for the teams and this is what came out.
The player who is Macedonia sets up the map, which is:
Large/Wide (1600)
Mediterranean Agricultural
Open battle
No allies
There is no re-rolling of the map.
As stated before, winning player gets 60 points for routing the enemy, plus % that you won by. Losing side gets points on what % of casualties they inflicted.
Since the two teams with the LOWEST TOTAL TEAM POINTS don't get promoted (tourney ends), it is important for both team members to get as many points as possible! Remember, even if your team loses both matches, they can still avoid elimination this round as long as they are not the one of the 2 lowest in total points.
Winners always post the battle results and points like this please:
Kronenblatt defeats Aetius39 45-17
Kronenblatt 60 + 28 = 88 total points
Aetius = 17 total points
The first round should be completed by January 10th, as Christmas/New Year might keep people busy.^^ Every other round will have 2 weeks to complete. Of course, if everyone finishes earlier, we will start the next round then.
So, once each team has one member pm me who is playing what army, I will inform you and you can begin! If anyone has any questions or if anything needs clearer explaining, by all means post here or pm. Good luck all!^^

Team 2 vs. Team 6
Aetius39 (Macedonian) defeats kronenblatt (Greeks) 52-25
Team 2 = 87 points
Team 6 = 25 points
A Granicus-like battle without the river, the Greeks were arraigned upon a pretty steep hill, and awaited the pikes. Luckily for the Macedonians, the pikes avoided damage from the lights and managed to punch a hole or two in the line by ganging up on a few units. Overall the hoplites just couldn't stand up to the pike attacks, but they did put up a good fight! GG kronenblatt, as usual.^^

Could you edit in the points for each team please? It'll be easier at the end for me when I put them all up. Just follow my example. Thanks!^^

40 + (52 - 25) = 67 points.
(If you win a battle you get 40 points plus how much of a percentage you won by. Losers gets how many casualties they inflicted.)
Apart from that: many thanks for a fun game and congrats to a well-deserved victory!

Re: There Can Be Only One! - New Tournament - 1st Round
I think we need to change the scoring system. If the winner gets 40 pts. + the difference between percentage of routed soldiers they can end up getting less pts. than the loser.
Example:
Player A beats player B 60-59. Player A as a winner gets 40 (for winning) + 1 (for difference in % routed) = 41 and player B gets 59!!! (% routed)
I admit it's a rare situation but it's possible and currently I'm fightining a battle with deeter where we are past 40% of routed troops and there is no clear favorite so we may end up getting close to 60% and then the current scoring system will not make sense.
EDIT: So I'm thinking that the easiest solution would be to increase the score for winning from 40 to 60. This way even in the example above the winner would get minmally more points then the loser (61 to 59) which is a fair deal I think
