Problem with Cross of Iron

Hey so I recently ordered Cloe Combat Cross of Iron and I have the option to download 2 versions of the game, an updated version and a "legacy" version but whenever I install the updated version I have an issue where I can't see the text for the dates of battles (check screenshot) However I can see the text fine when I select campaigns. Also this happens on every resolution i've tried between 800x600 and 1920x1080, and selecting "scale front end" doesn't fix it either. this problem doesn't happen in the Legacy version though. I wonder if I'm the only person with this problem as I couldn't find it mentioned anywhere else.
