Panzer Corps 2: Axis Operations - 1940 - Battle of Sedan

Post by AlbertoC »

We have our second entry for the Axis Operations: 1940 battle videos.

This time it's the turn of the Battle of Sedan.

In the Battle of Sedan players will be on the offensive against the French Army. They will need to reach two goals: to defeat the French and capture Sedan, and to scout for the "Ghost Division" of the notorious German general, Erwin Rommel, who has vanished beyond enemy lines.

Let us know what you think in the comments section. Axis Operations: 1940 is going to be released on December 10th.

Like it very much...very big map, narrow corridors due to forrest, few airfields, bridging requirements, Charles de Gaulle is tough etc etc.

The only thing I can't seem to do right is find the Ghost division 7th Pz. I had the whole map covered but no sign. The promo clip on Youtube covering the battle of Sedan placed the Ghost division north of Chimay. But having scoured the whole western area, above Chimay as well, I can't seem to locate Rommel's troops. Are they fixed (i.e. north of Chimay) or do they move around? Is there a sequence like in the promo clip (i.e first conquer Sedan and then work your way up)? Any suggestions? I replayed this map already.

They do move around, there are a pair of units that pretty much patrol the entire western edge of the map, from the very top to halfway towards the bottom. I have never seen these units die, and even if the recon car somehow did that is why the tank also exists. Have you scouted out the entire area of that map and found nothing?

They aren't static units, you aren't guaranteed to find them exactly where some demo or preview videos have found them to be.

Also, if you have covered that whole area of the map... what happens when you turn on the no fog of war cheat?

does revealing the whole map finally pinpoint their location for you? Or are they just not on the map. Truth be told, I've seen the recon car come close to death but never die. I have literally never seen the tank unit ever ever die...

3rd try is a charm. Found the Ghost division. This time I played like in the promo clip and first conquered Sedan then moved North on the western bank. Thanks for your response :-)

We wanted to give the new mechanic (mission to find units is brand new) a really grand entrance... perhaps we went too far and made the map TOO big and made Rommel's units a little TOO well tucked away. I mean, friendly German forces having a hard time finding and catching up to Rommel.... we maybe also got carried away with the whole 'Ghost Division' theme... heheh

I am glad to hear you found them though, hope you enjoy Rommel's writing in the briefings! :D
