HELP! Can anyone beaten Coop AI without any DLC?

Hey guys, we’re noobies who are trying to learn BSG Deadlock through coop play against the computer.

We have all the DLC disabled (trying to keep things simple) but we can’t seem to come even CLOSE to beating the coop AI. First of all, they get an UNBELIEVABLE number of Raiders: it seems to be a foregone conclusion that all our fighters will be gone in about 5 turns. Then - especially if we try to get a lot of fighters ourselves - there’s a wall of torpedos wiping out any carriers or Basestars we might buy.

Are there any teams of players out there who have been able to beat the AI (4000pts/player) without DLC? Before this last patch, it at least seemed possible, but since this last patch, we die before we can even ID all the crap he’s got and now we’re on the verge of deleting the game!

Thanks a ton for any ideas and not laughing at us too hard...

Yes you can...

You do make one error... the enemies has a lot of raiders and ordonance? well frontline your Battlestar with flak on?
Solves both problem i assume.

Against the AI, with 4000 points each, you both take 2 Artemis and 1 Adamant.
That's 10 total fighter squadrons.
Each player deploys his 2 Artemis 1 just above the other with the Adamant trailing.
The pairs of Artemis' are even with each other about 8 squares apart on the deployment area.
First turn: Launch all fighters and turn perpendicular to wherever the Cylons are so that your 2 above/below Artemis pairs are following each other and the Adamants have the Artemis between them and the Cylons.
Second turn: Put the fighters all in one group and send them toward the closest target. Maneuver your 2 Artemis pairs to be completely perpendicular to the Cylons.
Third turn: Cylon fighters will have been launched, change your Fighters target to the closest group and let them go. They will chew through everything the Cylons launch and after that, you can sic them on whatever Cylon capital ships you choose. Turn on flak on the appropriate side of the Artemis now that the fighters have cleared and you are missile/torpedo proof. Keep the Adamants on the protected side of the Artemis pairs. Focus fire any capitals that come close. Cylons have no chance whatsoever.

OK, we finally tried this strategy and 10 Viper squadrons were definitely not enough - not even close. A huge herd of Cylon Raiders blew right through our 10 squadrons of Vipers (8 Mk Is, 2 Mk IIs) then it was game over before we even got to sight all of their capitals. What are we doing wrong?

All DLCs disabled (should be base game only). 4000 pts each of us. Both took 1 Adamant equipped with Torps + MkII Vipers and 2 Artemis Battlestars. Being a coop game, we will never know exactly what the Cylons had.

All Battlestars and Adamants were set to +4 Defense in an attempt to increase Viper effectiveness. All vipers were launched and assembled into a single location by turn 2.
All 10 squadrons were sent to attack the same lead Cylon fighter squadron. All other launched Cylon squadrons converged on the furball.
All 10 squadrons were wiped out in 3 turns. It was hard to count, but perhaps 8 or more Cylon squadrons remained in a big mass to advance on our Battlestars while we began trading shots with their lead Revenants.
As a side note, our flak shields detonated at least 2 nukes they launched at us.

What are we doing wrong? Have you tried grabbing a friend and winning with the suggested coop strategy under these conditions? Might the AI cheating?
