Field of Glory II “Rise and Fall of Carthage” - Join the Tournament
Re: Field of Glory II “Rise and Fall of Carthage” - Join the Tournament
Sometimes players give up early for any number of reasons. Watch the replay in finished games, you'll likely see he surrendered.

Except that automated tournament games don't allow concessions.

It was a shame Okie - There's a time limit apparently - so if you don't finish in time the game ends and you move to the next round. I know you had issues so it's a bit unfair, but it sounds like it's automated so there isnt anything which can be done. We will meet on the field again I'm sure.
Re: Field of Glory II “Rise and Fall of Carthage” - Join the Tournament
Not sure if this is an issue or not, just a few turns into round 2 and in game 1 my opponent broke 2 of my skirmishers and 4 points carried over to the tournament scores, in game 2 I broke one of his and in the game I have 2 points but in the tournament scores I'm still on 0. There were server issues at the time so I assumed next turn it would catch up but that's been and gone and I'm still on 0. Will it catch up when I break another one of his units?

There may be a difference in the way the calculations are made. The calculations are made afresh each turn, they are not cumulative, so any "error" would not carry over to future turns.Deano2 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 8:52 am Not sure if this is an issue or not, just a few turns into round 2 and in game 1 my opponent broke 2 of my skirmishers and 4 points carried over to the tournament scores, in game 2 I broke one of his and in the game I have 2 points but in the tournament scores I'm still on 0. Anyway please report back if it continues to look wrong.

Trivial question: Is the server in the US Mountain Time zone (UTC-7)?
The times when turns are completed are one hour earlier than my location in the US Central Time zone (UTC-6).

Yep, probably. Still doesn't work though. Are we the only ones noticing it?

This is just to remind people that the next round has begun, although the PBEM server did not send out reminders. Please look in your MP lobby.

I am wondering if DavidBowman is still playing in the tournament as he has had both sides for the last 3 days and no answer back for me?
Okie

Re: Field of Glory II “Rise and Fall of Carthage” - Join the Tournament
Suggestion: Perhaps make the 2nd Punic War (Hannibal in Africa) game desert terrain? After 4x mediterranean games, a change of scenery wouldn´t be bad. Just saying.

North Africa was not desert in 202 BC.
But in any case, we can’t alter the setup at this late stage.

Re: Field of Glory II “Rise and Fall of Carthage” - Join the Tournament
It was probably part greenish, part desert; Tunisia is still both.
Desertification happened earlier, about 6.000-2.500 BC. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sahara#De ... ic_climate
But if it´s too late to alter the setup, that´s ok. Was just an idea.

Zama and Carthage were/are located in northern Tunisia, which experiences Mediterranean mild rainy winters and hot, dry summers (Koppen climate classification Csa).
The southern part is indeed desert.
Of course, the climate may have been different 2,222 years ago
