German invasion of Turkey

Hi,

Has anyone ever tried this in PBEM before Russia?

I guess you should wait until Bulgaria enters as a jumping off point? When does Bulgaria enter?

Does it affect Soviet entry or US entry?

Is an amphib-only invasion feasible as Axis?

In BJR mod I guess it lifts the Malta supply rule at least for units that can trace back through Istanbul?

Other thoughts/comments?

I dont believe it hastens any type of entry into the war.

You can do an invasion before Bulgaria by moving in from Romanian ports (or from the Med - but suffer attacks from the Royal Navy).

My advice is be very cautious about this invasion - Turkey has allot of troops and the terrain is terrible so make sure you have tons of time when you go ahead and do this - you dont want to be caught with Russia entering the war before you have managed to take out Turkey. On the positive side it does give you a chance of getting closer to the oil when you need it - just beware.

I would try this tactic out versus the computer first. I tried invading Turkey once - took constantinople but then bogged donw and got nowhere.
