EDIT: Battle from Ottoman side of viev:

Sorry for my not too good english.

Maybe Awesum4 will post his own descriprion, with the opponent point of viev. It can be interesting, how the second side see this same engagement.
No need for apologies Gribol. I enjoyed your account. (Though, I would imagine Andre will also have a wonderful account detailing his glorious defeat whilst defending Christendom)

Gribol may struggle with recounting battles using the English language but he has no difficulty mastering the military arts. I was soundly beaten by a much better player who used the strengths of his army to overpower the weaknesses of mine.

The battle started badly with King Louis being blown apart by an Ottoman cannon ball in almost their first cannonade. Further shooting from the bombards had a bad effect on several of my other Gendarme units.

The wiley Turks withdrew almost their entire army until they were behind the level of the fortifications. I had decided not to attempt to assault the fortifications frontally and my army slowly moved to both the right and left leaving an ever increasing hole in the centre, which I fully expected hoping this would draw his jannissaries out into the open. The Bosnian attack on the flank destroyed a couple of my units but it was then eliminated. This unfortunately draw several crucial units from my right wing.
As my two separate wings were about to engage his forces in forested terrain which suited neither of us a mass of carefully concealed sipahis swept out of his fortifications to fall on my flanks and rear, followed up by the jannissaries. Assaulted by cavalry from all directions and being torn apart by massive cannonballs and short range musketry my troops broke and fled.

All credit to my opponent, he played it very well. We are having a friendly refight where I am using the Turks but I cannot see myself winning such an overwhelming victory

Thank you for nice battle.
Magnificent effort Gribol defeating the King of Hungary with brilliant military tactics and perfect manners as befits the new Provincial Governor of Hungary.
Well Done, a shiny new Turban is heading your way.

ahuyton (Ottoman) won against smjohnso77 (Hungarian), 59-34

The game was decided on the Ottoman left flank, where I advanced aggressively with all my Cav and LH. After a few turns I pulled my right flank mounted over to help and by the end even the Janissaries advanced tentatively. It is a tough game for the Hungarians. The Ottoman shooting is lethal and their light horse can do great damage. The turning point of the game was when a Hungarian unit broke and two Keils disrupted as a result. Nasty. Once that happens they stand little chance against the firepower and so it proved.

From our correspndent at Mohacs, László József Bíró, writing for the first time with his new invention.... which he calls the rolling ball (Footnote: rather than a quill dipped in the blood of his enemies he rolls a small stone after being dipped -patent pending)

It is with regret that after retrieving the missing trousers of Pixel John Zápolya commander of the Transylvanian army our illustrious commander, GDod the Vice-voivode of Transylvania, due to his impromptu but premature celebratory party in the field has completely forgotten to manage a successful battle. While there is still hope that all the noble dinner guests will find solace and safety, our army maybe no more. When asked by this reporter whether he regarded this as a failure, GDod replied, "Armies are plentiful in Transylvania when men are faced with a choice of either impalement, or recruitment." Isolated and surrounded on all sides the current force may need to find their own way back to the mountains. Final casualties are still coming in but shouldn't be far away.

An artists impression of the celebrations in the field

Tough at the beginning but the Hungarian King was knocked off his horse and the Hungarians fell apart.
Thanks for a good, friendly game Gavin.

SnuggleBunnies (Hungarian) defeats Sedo (Ottoman) 62-39

https://youtu.be/ToFsJ9g0PvY

It was a truely shambolic performance on my part, but Sedo took pity on me and didn't bring the janissaries out so a victory it is!

I’m not near a computer now so don’t have the exact score but Agha Nosy_Rat took out my Hungarians. I knew we were doomed when a full strength landsnecht kiel fragged on impact to a jaded Sipahi!

Nosy_Rat (Ottomans) defeats TheGrayMouser (Hungarians) 55-22.

Two armies met halfway across the battlefield, when the Ottoman light troops engaged on both flanks. Some of the Hungarians were brave enough to try to catch them, but ended up destroyed by the concentrated fire of Sipahis who covered lights' retreat. Once enough damage was done by archery, cannon fire and Bosnian ambushers, heavy cavalry attacked and routed the disrupted enemy forces. In the center Ottoman troops mostly successfuly evaded combat with knights and the pike keils - in the end only one of pike blocks was broken (due to sheer luck, I must say), and all the others have barely seen any action.

Definitely a very tough match for Hungarians, well played by those who managed to win with them.

After a rash of Ottoman victories this drawing of the successful grand viziers Veles, Gribol and Flynnn5555 relaxing after a well earned rest was widely circulated in the west by our correspondent at Mohacs, László József Bíró, It seems Sultan Kiwiwarlord was away in a private sanddune (presumably an early version of a chatroom) with ahuyton and nosy_rat, no doubt scheming the next Hungarian downfall :D

This picture of Grand Vizier Veles sporting his new turban was recently received at the office of our campaign correspondent by an anonymous block printer (suspiciously looking very much like the delivery boy of the Ottoman Propaganda and Kebab Delivery Service.)

We are just waiting for the result of Dang v Pixel. Please finish this by 30th November. If you can't finish it please let me know. For the purposes of the event we will then treat it as a draw as I want to moove to Round Two,

The Ottoman threat level stands at 24 (if my arithmetic is correct) and could go to 29 or fall to 21 depending on the result. If the DangvPixel outcome is a draw the final threat level will be 25.

It seems then that in all cases the Enemies side will have a free choice of army for Round Two and maybe even a points bonus (hands up who wants to play against Snugglebunnies...). Could I ask the Enemies team then to start discussions over their choice of army. All players to play the same please.

See http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtop ... 35#p890535 for an outline of Round Two.

Maybe each Anti Ottoman Player choose their army from the options available before you post the draw Alan.
This would give some variation, and historical as the Ottomans fought on many fronts.
