New Mod oil rule for Germany

Post by Amicofritz »

Where do I download it and how do I implement it in the mod? Quite an important improvement to the game, obviously.

Ronnie is in charge of the mod files so hopefully he can answer this. Or you can PM me your email address and I can send you the country.class file.

We don't want to force players into downloading updates every 2 weeks to the mod. That can be frustrating. So we will usually playtest changes and then make updates file available when we know they will be part of the BJR-mod and not an interesting "experiment".

I will say that the new Country.class file works as intended. I'm currently in a game with Randy where as the Axis I've run out of oil. It's June 1944. Without this change I would be done for for sure. Even with this change I'm still in trouble; but right now I'm getting 41 PPs of oil each turn. This allows me to move selected armor, air and naval units and even make one or two critical counterattacks with armor & air.

You can PM either Stauffenberg or me with your email and we can send you the file. You'll need to back up the original Country.class and then replace it with the new one.

This worked for all but one of us (i.e., Randy). It turns out that Randy was running an older version of java that caused CEaW not to work with this updated file. Timothy did create another version of that file that's compatible with the older java version. I tell you this just in case you get the updated Country.class file we're all using (except for Randy) and it doesn't work. It that case we would need to get you the version he's using.

Can someone who's familiar w/ the changes to the file explain how to install the file and where to get it? This change (small amount of oil for germany if out of oil) seems like a good change to use.

Can it be used for ongoing games or only for new games that are started?

Location for file is, C:\Program Files\Slitherine\Commander - Europe At War\game\Country.class

Backup the original Country.class and replace it with the new one.

Yes. It works like a charm for on-going games. Both players though need to update.

PM me with your email if you want a copy.

I believe Timothy is on a Mac. I'll email him where the file is located.
