Re: LORDS OF HISTORY (the ultimate edition)
Hi Fogman
Apologies for using this forum but.
There is a bug or some problem with the computer totalling up turns. As we all hopefully know, one game turn, represents a turn from each player. So 4 game turns = 4 turns from each player. The game is now totalling up each of our turns as game turns. So 4 game turns is now 2 turns from each player. Hope this makes sense. It means that we can only play about 13 turns max now.
It probably has an even greater effect on your scenarios as they are generally shorter in length (number of turns) than majority. It means that you would need to double the number of turns your originally allocated for a game to be completed.
If you are playing somebody I recommend that each player types in first turn, second turn etc on each of your turns.

Re: LORDS OF HISTORY (the ultimate edition)
hmm you’re right, at least for multiplayer games. Turn number can be seen in mp lobby so no need to type it. That’s how Pike & Shot counts turns as I discovered when writing scenarios for that game. Well, that’s a problem. It’s an easy fix; and because the scenarios are under 12 turns, they can be safely edited to double in length although this round is messed up. Thanks for the heads up.

Re: LORDS OF HISTORY (the ultimate edition)
Yes noticed that OK vs computer or against yourself. It depends on how many turns your guys have played. You could always start again. BTW got some vg help from kilroy1. He showed me how to change cohesion of troops and % casualty changes. It was done on private messages. I'll see if I can figure out how to forward them onto you.
Re: LORDS OF HISTORY (the ultimate edition)
Ok this might be the first result casued by the "turns" issue.

Abbasids (Ian) 31/60, Khurasanians (me) 28/42

Re: LORDS OF HISTORY (the ultimate edition)
Battle results for Fontenoy:
Fontenoy
Lothair (Edmund) 56/84 vs Louis/Charles (allendeuce) 78/74
Edmund 10.5
allendeuce 6.7
All very even throughout with scores each side taking turns to pull ahead until Karl's flank collapsed allowing Pippin to break through the second rank.
Thanks for the game Jim, mush closer than the score implies.
Fontenoy
Louis/Charles (Edmund) 32/74 vs Lothair (mcfcivo) 87/84
Edmund 10.4
mcfcivo 4.3
The Karl vs Pippin decided this one too, but Pippin fell off his horse which gave the allies an advantage. Not to be left out Ottgar followed suit a little later on the opposite flank, which tipped the scales against Lothair's men.
Thanks for the game Andy.

ROUND 24: SCOURGES OF THE WEST
As the Carolingian era drew to a close, there emerged two great threats to the Christian West: one came from the waves and one from the steppes. The Norse came first to pillage then to conquer and settle down, especially in England, relying on their tough infantry. The Magyars on the other hand were deep raiders, formidable archer horsemen in the tradition of the Eurasian steppes. In the year 910, two great battles was fought against these scourges of the West.
TETTENHALL 910
A Viking raiding army from the Danelaw descended on English Mercia in the late spring of 910. After ravaging the country, the Danes quickly marched home with their loot before resistance could be made effective. But they were caught in precarious position near Tettenhall by the combined forces of Mercia and Wessex...
LECHFELD 910
Two East Frankish armies converged to meet the Magyar raid of 910. Alert to the danger, the Magyars engaged King Louis the Child’s army outside Augsburg before it could be joined by that of Gebhard of Lorraine. Using feigned flight tactics, they trapped the German cavalry on the Lechfeld...

Rayy
Londo (Ks) 23/42 - mcfcivo (Abbasids) 48/60
The K/unpronounceables did well initially in the centre, but it then turned into a hard fight there. They were helped by the failure of the Abbasid left flank infantry attack. And then it ended!
I'm playing Ian and Edmund now in the remaining games from last round.

Re: LORDS OF HISTORY (the ultimate edition)
Battle results for Lechfield:
Lechfield
Magyars (Edmund) 21/40 vs East Franks (allendeuce) 44/42
Edmund 10.5
allendeuce 5.3
The scenario is all about the two initial turns. It the Magyars can break through to rear charge the Franks, the Frankish lancers collapse into chain morale failures and are destroyed with nowhere to fall back. If those two initial turns don't go well, the Franks will have the upper hand.
In this game everything went well for the Magyars at the start and it was enough to ensure the lancers were destroyed before they could make much use of their lances, so the horse archers were able to attack the approaching infantry in reasonable strength. The Frankish foot performed well initially and took out their markers, but hampered with poor dice and poor morale, enough of them routed to give the Magyars the points they needed without seeming to be in a winning position.
Thanks for the game Jim.
Lechfield
East Franks (Edmund) 14/42 vs Magyars (Iandavidsmith) 42/40
Edmund 10.5
Iandavidsmith 3.3
This time the flow didn't go the way of the Magyars at the beginning and the killer rear charges had limited effect. This meant the armour and lances of the Franks came into play. The advantage they gave meant that the large number of auto charges made little difference. Then the infantry arrived, giving the Franks an advantage in numbers too.
Thanks for the game Ian.
