U.S. Marines Campaign DLC is a Lot of Fun
I just completed the third scenario, and I am having a blast. Expect the unexpected, because the battlefields are Japanese controlled islands. The Japanese can appear from any point on the compass; and they do. It is easy to get used to the big European scenarios with predictable battle fronts and reinforcement locations. You can always watch how the front line moves during the enemy's turn to see where their thrusts are even if you can't see the enemy units themselves. That doesn't work with the island hopping scenarios because the Japanese own the whole island and only your movement moves the front line marker. Add in the naval aspect, missing from most of the European scenarios, and you have a very different way of playing, even though you are using the same game system.

Have you played the two original campaigns?
Nothing they've ever released since has ever compared to them, in terms of combining air, naval and land combat not just within one campaign (there are several scenarios without land units at all) but even within one mission (Guadalcanal comes to mind).

I own all of the DLC and have been playing since the original release. I've completed what are now called the U.S. Pacific and Rising Sun DLCs a long time ago. I've been playing a lot of multi-player European theater based scenarios with a friend and the solitaire Pacific War campaigns are a nice change because of the combined arms, different tactics, and limited Resource Points.

Landings are one of the most successful aspects in this game

Absolutely! The Us Marines & US Pacific campaigns are what attracted me to this game and are still my favorites.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Marines campaign when I played that one. It is one of my favorites
