My idea is that the coalition partner uses the same list as the attacker, and the defender uses the same army list for his side in both battles. How does that sound?
Well it doesn't sound very plausible for the coalition partner. Surely he should be using his own army, and hence one of his own army lists, not his ally's.

And, realism aside, it also makes for more variety in the battles.

True: then let's have the coalition partner specify his army list as part of his declaration, or after the attacker has called for his aid. I'll supplement the rules.

At stake:

Karvon: Kappadokia

Aetius: Armenia

Aetius requests his ally Zeus to rain some thunderbolts, or at least a nuke or two :)
Battle is joined in Mediterranean hills and we will summon our Kyrene Greek allies to help in the defense of our land.

As Aetius attacked us, we have no attacks to make this turn with our coalition, but we'll be cedding Kappadokia to our ally Blagrot, should we successfully defend it.

The army of Thrake with Greek auxileries will march to occupy Kappadokia after the handover and aid in it's defence if required.

Great everyone! So we're ready with the Attack Declarations phase, three days ahead of schedule! :) (Wish that could happen at work too, but maybe it will if I introduce FoG2 there... ;) ).

So now we're ready for the Battle Resolutions phase.

Diadochi Battles
1. batesmotel attacks kronenblatt in Hyrkania using the army of Persis, and with the aid of deeter using the army of [ ].
2. rbodleyscott attacks batesmotel in Karmania using the army of Gedrosia with Indian allies, and with the aid of kronenblatt using the army of Paropamisadai.
3. Aetius39 attacks Karvon in Kappadokia using the army of Armenia.

- Make sure you all have version 3 of the mod installed and that you have deleted the obsolete versions 1 and 2.
- Defenders in bold set up challenges. Battles are resolved simultaneously during a three-week period of Nov. 6 - Nov. 27 (see Battles in the rules).
- If all battles have been resolved before that, round 4 may commence earlier, but plan for first order of attack declarations for round 4 on Nov. 30.

Enjoy!

@Deeter: which army from among your three satrapies will you use in the battle above? Please let me know so that I can set up the challenge and the battle. Thanks!

Deeter defeats Kronenblatt in Hyracania 61-49, fulfilling his alliance with Batesmotel. A touch and go battle that saw the balance swing back and forth. Ultimately it swung in the Mede's favor. Thanks to my opponent for a fun and challenging game.

Yes, it was fun AND challenging, like playing on an all-green pool table. :) Congrats to a well-deserved victory, deeter! With this defeat of mine, I it's certain that I will have lost Hyrkania. But to whom? It depends on the outcome in my other battle against batesmotel in Hyrkania: if he wins, he gets to choose, but if he doesn't win, Hyrkania goes to deeter.

Hey, just because of that remark, I will now do more than my utmost to beat batesmotel so that you end up with 'smelly' Hyrkania! :) But I don't take it personally with the smell, since I spearwon it from batesmotel in the first place, so it's his people smelling.

I should also mention that my C-in-C fell in this battle. So one Diadochi less. The rules state (under Overview, me underlining the applicable part):

The tournament ends as soon as one of the following conditions is fulfilled (whichever is the earlier):
1. one player or a coalition of players together controls a majority (13 or more) of the satrapies, or
2. the C-in-C of all players have died (at least once) in battle, at which time the age of the Diadochi (the generals personally knowing and fighting with and for Alexander) is deemed to be over.

Any other of you guys whose C-in-C has died in battle? Please then write in the thread.

I recall routing your CnC's unit, but not that he fell and I was watching. Have you confirmed this?

Now I become unsure, but I still recall that my C-in-C fell in one battle (maybe it was against batesmotel). How can I check it up?

EDIT: I have now reviewed my two battlefields and in the one against batesmotel, my C-in-C is there, but on the battlefield against you, it's nowhere to be found: of course could have left the map or dispersed, but I have a clear recollection of him falling in battle.

It was such a messy battle, with generals routing on both sides. it's probably impossible to reconstruct. But I don't recall any that "fell" just routing and dispersing. For myself, I would be inclined to give it the benefit of a doubt. Besides, this is your creation!
