Division C
Kraff (Numidian or Moorish 55 BC-6 AD) defeated Ironclad (Carthaginian (Hannibal in Italy) 218-217 BC): 59-26
The Numidians, knowing their weaknesses, placed their heavy and medium infantry atop a hill and sent their skirmishers to harass the Carthaginians, swarming them with Numidian light cavalry. Skirmishing wasn't that successful, though, so the latter - encouraged - attacked the hill. And that didn't go well for the Carthaginians. After they routed two Carthaginian elephant units, the Numidians were safe to conduct a flanking maneuver on their left flank, sealing the fate of enemies desperately trying to take the hilly redoubt. It wasn't an easy fight for either side, however. A band of Celtic mercenaries managed to cut through Numidian ranks and get to the very top. They fragmented one and disrupted another unit of irregulars, and were only stopped by a charge of Numidian elephants. When the battle ended, they were still fighting, fragmented, surrounded and about to be flank-charged by a troop of Imitation Legionaries.
Thank you for the game, Ironclad.

Re: Biblical section experiment - thanks . . .
I have finished the experiment and I think it clearly shows that requiring four choices per player (as in the other league sections) should be sufficient. No-one was allocated their fourth army choice in the four hypothetical divisions used suggesting there is some useful slack in the system already.
Thanks very much for your assistance with this. In the Biblical section in Season 10 I will offer player army choice rather than set historical match-ups as we had this season - and I will alternate these two systems in future seasons.
Comments are welcome.

Supervark (Byzantine) beat Doyley50 40-8
The Romans cavalry was no match for the Byzantines and soon left the field in disorder. The Roman infantry proved much tougher but they did not have the legs for the fast-moving evading Byzantines who whittled down their numbers with bow fire until the lancers could attack. Well played by my opponent in a difficult situation as the terrain favored the cavalry army.
