Division A is starting to warm up now with harveylh and Snugglebunnies currently sharing the lead with pompeytheflatulent well-placed behind them having won his first 2 matches. It looks like being a real ding-dong battle at the top of Division B where XLegione has moved ahead of Cunningcairn with a fourth win. Both players still have 100% records. MorkinTheFree has won promotion from Division C after a commanding performance saw him win 8 of his 10 matches, while in Division D Warg1 just pipped Aetius39 for the promotion place after 2 narrow wins in his last 2 games against Barrold713. It is still all to play for in Division E where Rob123 has a clear lead but may face late challenges from Blagrot, deeter and random27. In Division F kronenblatt has finished his matches and set a very tough target of 29 points to beat. Only tmac11 can still do this and he requires 15 points from his last 4 matches (against McHarg and SSB) to overtake that target.

In a nail-biting finish, Warg1 managed to narrowly overcome Barrold713 in 2 matches to beat Aetius39 to the automatic promotion place by just one point. Well played Warg1.

Division E

Captain Savage (Visigoths 419 with Byzantine allies) defeated Blagrot (Arab City 300) 52:25

The less numerous but higher quality Visigoth and Byzantine cavalry clashed on my left wing. Both of us were avoiding the rough terrain and deep stream that divided (and filled) the centre of the map. The better armoured and higher quality lancers won the day helped by the Visigoth noble cavalry reserve form the centre that just managed to block the gap between my extreme left and my warbands in the centre. The frontline Arab city troops proved to be of a lower quality than the warbands in the difficult terrain and the initial impact managed to smash enough of the Arab front line to clinch victory. My left centre was smashed by superior numbers, archery and some cataphracts but it was too little to overcome the victories by the cavalry and the Visigoth right flank. The irregular troops, archers and dismounted lancers did do enough to allow the two flanks to prosper. Great game - I'm starting to better understand how to use the Visigoths. Timing is everything!

Aetius39 (Andalusian) defeats General Shapur (British) 27-8 (surrendered)

Andalusians came at the British from the left, and their superior cavalry broke the enemy's horse, while the line broke through in several places against the British. Things looked grim for the British, as by the time the battle ended they had several disrupted/fragmented units and not much damage was on the Andalusians. Thanks for the game!

A hard-fought battle, thanks for the game. The Assyrians crushed the Babylonian right flank but two chariots delayed the Assyrians long enough for the Babylonians to shoot the Assyrian right flank to pieces mainly by six light infantry bow. Effective and impressive use of light infantry.
