Division D
Conteshard (1600) Byzantine 988 - 1041 with Georgian 1008-1049 Ally beats Bluefin (1600) Frankish 751-887 AD 44-9
a very complicated map with lake and mountain did't help the frankish troops and funneled their infantry in the deadly overlapping fire of bizantine arrows.

Conteshard Byzantine 493-550 AD beats wellsonian Roman 379-424 AD with Frankish 260-495 AD allies 61-33
bizantine cavalry was a bit quicker killing off roman/frankish cav than the latter infantry killing bizantine infantry and that was the key to victory. Thanks Wellsonian for a very interesting game!

deeter (Normans) defeats Kronenblatt (Rus) 60 - 41.
The Ruskies fought bravely, but masses of Norman lancers had a compelling argument. Thanks for a fun game.

Division E
Kerait (Roman 105-25BC with Bithynian 294-74BC allies) defeats Tratmot (Achaemenid Persian 480-416 BC with Greek 680-461 BC allies) 58-25
The Persians defended a hill and pulled off a neat little maneuver by which armoured hoplites interposed themselves easily before the vulnerable Persian sparabara archers before the Roman legionaries could get at them. However, it so happened that the Persian immortal elite occupied their left flank, while by good fortune veteran legionaries made up the Roman right flank (facing the Persian left). The Romans didn't even bother advancing against the immortals defending their little hill, and the immortals never really managed to throw their full weight into the battle. Meanwhile, the Roman veteran legionaries swept around the Persian right and predictably butchered all they touched, and after the mercenary hoplites were finally vanquished in a bloody melee, there was nothing left to stop the Romans from slaughtering the soft innards of the Persian army.
I think the Persians were rather disadvantaged in this battle anyway, because legionaries are extremely difficult to disorder by arrow bombardment and their armour means that they also take relatively long to whittle down.

SLancaster (Roman 199-106 BC with Greek 227-146 BC allies) defeated lunecastle (Lysimachid 320-281 BC with Thracian(Hellenistic) 350-281 BC allies). 60-41.
First win for my Classical Romans and it wasn't easy. Lunecastle set up very well with his skirmishers, light cav and artillery. Roman steel and nerve was needed to push through the enemy line. Thanks for the game and I am sure you will do well.

Division D
Ironclad (Roman) defeats General Shapur (Indian) 42-16
The Roman army deployed defensively using scattered woodland and used engines to deter an initial enemy advance. The Indians then massed to concentrate for a major push on their right allowing the Romans the opportunity to counter attack on the other flank where their heavy infantry proved decisive once in close combat defeating the massed indian archers and the supporting elephant corps. Thanks GS for a good game.

Telesien Carthaginian (Hannibal in Italy) defeat gamercb Carthaginian 235-146 BC 58 - 23
Very tactical battle of medium infantry units clashing on rough terrain and cavalry maneuvering around each other. Very good game and unlucky result for gamercb.

Aetius39 (Persian) defeats Kraff (Indian) 45-9
Indians sent a bunch of elephants at the Persians, but before they could do any damage, the Persians used their overwhelming ranged attacks to take care of the rest of the army. Thanks for the game!
