Captain Savage (Carthaginian) defeated Joggy (Syracusan) 47:12

The Carthaginians Brought a solid line of spears in the centre and lots of mediums on both flanks. Cavalry on the right flank and reserve. Syracusans brought a lot more heavy spears and warbands and a solid cavalry wing on their left flank. Plenty of skirmishers on both sides. I advanced on the right and in the centre where I sent some skirmishers way ahead as a spoiling attack. The Carthaginian right flank coped well with the cavalry and relatively small numbers of Syracusan spears. Lots of flanking and some luck with mediums pushing back the cavalry gave me the edge. Despite most fighting being on the right flank. The most important events occurred on the left flank. A large area of rough ground was lightly defended by 4 medium Phoenician units facing about 8 heavy units. I managed to divert a few heavy units to support them, trying to find the few patches of open ground between the rough and a large marsh. The moral of the story is that medium troops in rough will beat heavy units and do it in style if you are lucky, and I was. A very exciting game that could have gone a very different way with some different luck.
