Post by whitehorses »

Has anyone tried the new range of 15mm almughavars from Eureka?

I cannot comment on those particular figures, but the Eureka range itself is 'elite'. I'd put them up there with AB and the like in sculpting quality and size. As I said, I've not seen those figures specifically, but I'd have no hesitation in ordering them sight unseen. Nic is a top bloke too, and if you have any problems is very easy to approach.

No 'inside knowledge' here, but I'd say that this is purely an economical concern. He's in business, and wouldn't be supplying figures that weren't selling. Thus, I'd say that they sell therefore he keeps them.

I dabbled once with Irregular *shudders*

I can't be doing with waiting for England to pick up the stock, so I just ordered the lot from Eureka :)
Just from the photos on their site, I'm fully confident that Eureka are indeed the Dogswotsitsnames 8)
So unless there's any Aussies or Kiwis on the board whi can give us a heads-up, I'll be first to view them LOL

I think with Irregular you have to pick your place. I have the Irregular 'Longships' for my Vikings. They look horrible in the flesh, but paint up ok. Actually bought them from Nic.

No problem. Us colonials are used to being overlooked

Well, I've heard some people say the same as my other post about their other figures. They look shocking, but paint up ok. I think it mostly depends on what you're doing. I've seen some quite ordinarly figures paint up quite nicely and end up with an overall quite nice effect. I think the difficulty is that 'nicely molded' figures are easier to paint.

They are just as good in the fles... erh metal. Very nice miniatures and on the off chance that you still like more variation, they mix well with the Touller and Essex ones.

Irregular are rather variable in quality. Some of their ranges are actually very nice (the newish Sassanids for a start).

One thing irregular are superb at (or at least were) is mail order. Some time back I ordered a load of their 2mm figures and as I couldn't get pictures I ended up ordering 1 each of about 30 to 40 codes. I placed the order at 1pm and the following morning it arrived with each code in a seperate labeled bag.

That's an interesting comment. Should they now change their name to 'Undrilled Miniatures'?

actually... a dremmel is exactly what they need. all the surfaces are too rough, the angles too acute.

they look like they've been carved with a butcher's knife.

Oh, I'm terribly sorry I suggested you buy them whitehorse .

I honestly thought they would look more like little tiny men than rocks.
