A massed cavalry battle on my left was fairly inconclusive ( helped by sterling work from my klibanophoroi). This did however allow me to free up a couple of other cavalry units. In the centre a hill helped my massed Skutatoi hold and disrupt the enemy infantry line long enough for the 'spare' couple of cavalry units to get in to their rear and finish things off.
The Lombards were let down by their allies who were no doubt distressed to be fighting their fellow Arabs on my side

Aetius (Syracuse) defeats Tratmot (Carthaginian) 40-15

The Carthaginians charged the Syracusian lines, while the right side of Syracuse came out of the forest and flanked them. The center held just long enough for the flank to collapse the Carthaginian left. GG to Tratmot; it was much closer than the final score showed.

Aetius (Carthaginian) defeats Tratmot (Syracuse) 41-14

Carthaginian troops came forward under a hail of light infantry missiles, and managed to hit the front lines fairly unscathed. The Syracusian right side broke right before the Carthaginian right did, but while the Carthaginians rolled up on their flank, the Syracusian cavalry was held back by foot in rough terrain. In the end another close (score again doesn't show truth) game. Thanks again Tratmot for another challenging game.
