Can you take multiple allies that are (1) from the same nation as the CinC and/or (2) the same nation as another ally.
So with the Classical Greek, can you have a Spartan CinC with 3 Spartan Allies (and take all the Spartan upgrades in all four commands)? With Condotta, could you have a Florence CinC with 2 Venice Allies?

Allies - can they be the same nation and same as the CinC?

I don' think this is expressly allowed or disallowed. You do need to be careful with some list of two allies not being possible with the mix/max issues.Cam_Millar wrote:Can you take multiple allies that are (1) from the same nation as the CinC and/or (2) the same nation as another ally.

I can imagine this being answered different by different people. For instance in Italian Condotta I could see it being allowed because thesee cities were often noted for rival factions and they could be allies.
I don't have Spartan list so I would be leery of the mix/max upgrade to make sure the math works. I could see Athenians having 3 allies as they bickered a lot. Spartans I don't know the history.

I believe that ally upgrades from the same list count against the main list minima and maxima so this wouldn't increase the Spartan upgrades at any rate.Cam_Millar wrote:Can you take multiple allies that are (1) from the same nation as the CinC and/or (2) the same nation as another ally.

The only reason I was thinking about it was taking a TC CinC with 1-3 Ally TCs. So it was just a way to get 4 cheap TCs with the Spartans rather than be limited to 3.I believe that ally upgrades from the same list count against the main list minima and maxima so this wouldn't increase the Spartan upgrades at any rate.
With an almost complete lack of knowledge of history, I just was not sure if not having a specific rule stopping Spartans having 3 Spartan allies was because it was obviously allowed or was so stupid it was unnecessary to prohibit it.
Might be more useful to have Condotta with multiple allies of the same city since they don't count against the max in the main list.
